Case status in SAVE database question

My fiancé (now wife) applied for her SS# 4 weeks ago here in our home state of Maine, but we have not received yet. If we go in SAVE database it states case status as “case returned to agency”. Under “description” it states, “SAVE has returned your case to Maryland-Social Security administration, SSA (Single Signon)”. Under the “what do I do next section” it states, “Please contact Maryland – Social security administration to get more information about your case status.

Does anyone know what any of this means? Is this just a part of the normal processing for new social security #?

The Maryland location is the social security headquarters. All applications shows they "went" there. I had to go to an office three times times this year and always got the card within 10 days or even less, and my status showed the date I applied and the same message as hers.

If you didn't get it, it's possible it's a problem with usps. You should give both the local ss office and USPS a call to try and find out where's the problem.

Actually got a letter the next day and they said we would have it within 2 weeks. Card showed up yesterday.

I'm having this same message now. Was yours sent for manual verification? So the total wait time for you was 5 weeks then? Did any more status updates take place in the save system?

I'm having this same message now. Was yours sent for manual verification? So the total wait time for you was 5 weeks then? Did any more status updates take place in the save system?

It didn't say whether it was for "Manual verification". It only said it was being returned to “SAVE has returned your case to Maryland-Social Security administration, SSA (Single Signon)”. Under the “what do I do next section” it stated, “Please contact Maryland – Social security administration to get more information about your case status".

I didn't get a chance to contact Maryland because a letter showed up in the mail the very next day stating we would have SS card within 2 weeks. After that letter, we got the card in a couple days I think. Whole process was close to 5 weeks. Seems like it can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks for most people to get their cards.

I'd guess if you got the same message in SAVE database, you will get your card soon too.

:) Thank you for your answer.

If it was sent off for manual verification they tell you at the SSA where you apply. I'm assuming that it was since you were waiting for one though :) YES! I rly hope it will be here soon..

Hey,

I got the same message when I checked in the SAVE last week. It has been 9 weeks since I applied for my social and they still say its under manual verification. But it does say 'returned to agency'. What should i do now, Please help.

Did you get your issue resolved? How long did it take to get your card after SAVE said that? I am still waiting after 6 weeks and they said they are waiting on verification in my local office. Thanks so much!

My wife and kids applied for their SS# 3months ago here in our home state of Massachusetts, but we have not received yet.

I am in the same boat. My appointment date was on Dec 2 2020, it's been more than a month now and my application is still showing the status 'returned to agency'. Called SSN office, they said they can't do anything about it. Any idea how long it might take? In my case I need it urgently as my job is at risk, if I don't submit ssn in couple of days they might take offer back. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!
