You should use the receipt number that you will get in your biometrics notice. I would wait for at least 2 weeks from your NOA 1 date to get biometrics notice. They normally give you a month ahead biometrics date (you can check the timeline of September 2016 filers to get an idea) so even if you travel is within a month, you should be fine. In case, if your biometrics date conflict with your travel, just reschedule one.

It's already been two weeks from my noa1..how much time it normally takes do you know?

I would give at least 2 more weeks for USCIS to send biometrics notice and then call them if I still do not get one. On the past forums, I have seen lot of people getting biometrics notice after a month of getting NOA 1.

So we finally re-sent the I-751 yesterday (10/31/16) and it was delivered to CSC today (11/1/16).

I wasn't able to find a group for I-751 filers for November. Does anyone know if one exists? If not, I wouldn't mind if you guys added me to your timeline.

Hey Abby & Mario,

Yes NOA1 is the 1 year extension. It does not matter if your card is expired as long as you have NOA1 1 year extension letter. You should get NOA1 within a week or slightly more after they received your application. So go ahead and send the application.

I only know P.O. box address for I-751 which you can use to ship your application. You are totally safe and sound for DEC 29 travel since you have 2 months (that's plenty to get NOA 1 :).

You will get your NOA1 letter fairly quickly (maybe in a week after they receive your packet). You will be travelling with this NOA1, your expired GC and of course your Passport.

Make sure to not miss the biometric appointment which could be in Nov/Dec time frame. You will get another NOA (I-797C) for your biometric appointment.

We sent our I-751 packet out USPS priority last Friday the 29th and it was delivered, according to tracking, on Monday the 31st. The check cashed but still says pending on my bank account, so I don't know if it was cashed today or yesterday (November). So I'm still in the October group, not November, right? Want to make sure before I add myself to the list.

Also, count us among those who left the ELIS number field blank. My husband tried all sorts of logins, and none of them worked. Two years was a long time ago!! Hoping this doesn't cause a problem...can't they just look that up??

I see lots of familiar user names--hi, guys! I pretty much abandoned Visa Journey until now. Needed a break. I started feeling that old immigration stress when we were putting the I-751 package together. Didn't miss that. Can't wait until my husband is a citizen!!

USCIS (Priority date April 1, Approval April 17, no RFEs)

March 28, 2014: I-130 sent via FedEx from Bogotá to Chicago Lockbox

April 1, 2014: Delivered to Chicago Lockbox at 10:29 a.m. according to FedEx tracking; signed for by J. CHYBA (date confirmed by My Case Status)

April 4, 2014: NOA1 e-mail received at 12:17 a.m.; case accepted and routed to CSC for processing. Check cashed.

April 17, 2014: Changed mailing address with USCIS Tier 2 representative. He also confirmed that our case had arrived to the CSC and that our NOA1 date is April 3.

April 18, 2014: NOA2 e-mail received at 12:30 a.m. Case status online changed to post-decision activity; date of "last updated" changed to April 17. Change of address e-mail received at 3 a.m. Status changed back to initial review on e-mail and online. Date of "last updated" now April 18. Called and spoke to two Tier 2 reps; both were useless.

April 21, 2014: Approval confirmed verbally by Tier 2 rep. Order put in to send second NOA2 hard copy to new address. Instructed to ignore online case status.

April 25 or 26, 2014: NOA1 hard copy arrives to old apartment in Bogotá. Priority date actually April 1. (April 3 was the notice date.)

May 16: USCIS change of address e-mail received

May 19: USCIS e-mail received saying a duplicate notice was mailed on this date. Case status now set to "Acceptance."

May 22: NOA2 duplicate hard copy arrives to U.S. address

April 29, 2014: Case received

​May 22, 2014: Case number and IIN assigned. Asked operator about our move from Colombia to Argentina and received instructions.

May 24, 2014: E-mails about embassy change/address change sent to nvcinquiry@state.gov at 4:36 p.m. NVC time

Got my Biometrics notice! Last time I had to reschedule twice - first because of a bad ice storm, second time a snow storm - so I'm half expecting a hurricane this time. Or perhaps locusts; could be an interesting change.

Has anyone received their biometrics letter yet? I'm getting concerned since I got my NOA almost a month ago. Should I call?

10.18.2013 - Married!

02.14.2014 - Day 00 - AOS package sent (I-485, I-130, I-765, I-131)

02.18.2014 - Day 06 - Package received at uscis

02.24.2014 - Day 12 - NOA received

02.27.2014 - Day 15 - Apt for biometrics received

03.13.2014 - Day 29 - Biometrics apt

03.18.2014 - Day 34 - I-485 case status changed to "testing and interview"

04.25.2014 - Day 72 - I-765 APPROVED! case status changed to "card production"

04.25.2014 - Day 72 - I-131 APPROVED! case status changed to "post decision activity"

04.30.2014 - Day 77 - Notification of EAD in the mail.

05.02.2014 - Day 79 - EAD in hand!

I received mine two days back. Its on Nov 15th.
