Hello,

I need a clarification please from anyone who had experience with the immigration Visa interview process (Specifically CR-1):

In the PDF I downloaded regarding the checklist for the interview process requirements, one of these requirement is that they need the affidavit of support from the petitioner (in my case I am petitioner)

The question is:

1- Does that mean the beneficiary has to show up in the interview with my affidavit of support? (which I have already sent to NVC), so do I have to send my beneficiary another original copy just to show up with it? please advise

thanks in advance for the help

You don't have to have another Affidavit of Support at the interview, unless you have information to correct (e.g. a new job). Although it is always advised to at least have a copy of the Affidavit of Support sent to NVC during the interview, just in case the CO asks for it.

Thanks - That's what I thought which makes more sense since the original is already sent to the NVC.

Send another Original Copy of Affidavit of Support.

Thanks - Can you clarify if this is mentioned somewhere or it has happened with you?

Hello all,

Thanks for your help -

I just found the following information in the below link - It says that another originally signed copy should be with the beneficiary at the time of the interview regardless of the one the petitioner sent to the NVC for Family-based visa applications

But what if you already sent it to the nvc and dont have another copy to sent to the beneficiary? Then what?

You can do another and email it. NVC has the original and beneficiary will take a copy.

MUST they? No. Should they? Yes.

From what I've seen , this is basically the answer for most Visa Interview documentary questions. When in doubt, bring it. Can't hurt to be over-prepared.

You should bring the original copies of everything you sent to the NVC -- they probably won't ask for most of it, but in the event they DO, you want to be able to hand it over rather than end up in "Administrative Processing Hell" for weeks because they asked for something you didn't have.
