I am on F1 Visa in the United States and I applied for permanent residency using I-130 on 06/05/2015. My case was approved by USCIS on 02/11/2016, but it was sent to NVC and I need to adjust my status. What is the best way to let them know and get my case back on track?

I was considering to mail or email them requesting the change, but that might put my case on hold until USCIS takes over. Just trying to weigh my options before I take action.

Appreciate your help in advance.

Hi KariKarshivani. I am on the same boat. I have F1-visa and applied for permanent residency using I-130 application. My case files were forwarded to NVC. But I opted to do AOS and hence notified NVC about it in writing, i.e., email. Now I have to wait for PD to be current. One more thing is I have to update them before the end of a year to keep my files in their system.

But I don't know if there is advantage to opt for the other route, that is through NVC. The USCIS and NVC visa bulletin seem to have the same cutoff PDs for filing AOS.
