PLZ HELP: Administrative Processing Information Timeline

PLEASE HELP with your experience or someone else's.

After a year of waiting since I applied for my husband's immigration application I-30. I was beyond devastated when the counselor transferred his case to be under administrative processing information without any clarification of the reason.

I want to know who has been in this, and HOW MUCH TIME did it take for them to get back to you? Noting that they handed him his passport back which gives me the indication this could be a long process.

I made some research and asked many people who confirmed that this occurs when the applicant's data, biometrics, physical features, background..etc matches their system of people under the radar which upset more knowing my husband's clear record and his lack of interest even in politics or any religious conversations.

I also was surprised to know from other people it took them 5 and 8 months!!!

PLEASE let me know if you've been through this and it took you 2 months or less.

If this API takes longer, I have to leave everything I planned for here and go back to be with my husband as we have 2 kids and I can't stand seeing them grow any more without their father's presence.

There is no time limit, it takes as long as they need it to be to make sure he and now even the women applying is not a threat to the USA.

Name checks, finger prints, and even now known to check his or her social websites for starters. Its a brutal process.

Hoping his journey in AP ends quickly and he is here with you.

I know there is no clear guideline but I would like to know the average based on people's experiences. I talked to a lawyer today and was depressed when he told me most of the cases transferred to APR end up with denials. Which doesn't make sense to me.

That is not proven, AP means they want to check a bit more information, and it could be cause it was not checked the first time around. They are being more cautious now with the events that are happening nearly ever day, and it is so sad.

Hope you get your approval quickly . Good Luck

Handing the passport back usually is not a good sign. What did the 221g say? Normally for extra security checks they keep the passport. They have my husband's still

AP has no time frame, it could be months or even years. Sorry you're going through this.

not true, it means nothing. They will simply ask for it when the visa is ready to be printed.

OP, you keep asking over and over what the "average" time for AP is and honestly there is no average. It takes as long as it takes. I have seen people from Jordan get no AP at all and I have seen others who were stuck in it for more than 2 years and anywhere in between. Everyone from every country gets at least 3 or 4 days of AP. Whoever this lawyer you spoke to is wrong, AP does not equal a denial for most it's actually quite the contrary.

Just for reference my husband's AP took 11 months. We lived and worked in Cairo, went through the Cairo embassy and had been married for a few years. His Interview was March 2015 and he didn't receive his visa until February 2016. Everyone's case is different but it is helpful to have a pool of information to make the best decision for your family, so I can certainly appreciate that! And most applicants who are placed in AP see a positive conclusion to the case but vetting can take a long time.

You have to bear in mind that Many countries like Egypt for example do not have their records digitalized like the US does. So it can be lengthy when double checking information that requires human legwork.
