Hi! My fiance currently has a tourist visa. Can his tourist visa be changed to a fiance visa or do we have to start a whole new visa process? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

hi

two different things, so yes, you have to start the process of a k1 visa, to come to the US and marry and file for AOS to get a Green card

the tourist visa is only for visiting

have you met in person within the last 2 years?

You don't "change" visas, you apply for visas. As such, you would have to start all over.

Part of the fiance(e) visa process involves having an interview at the US embassy/consulate servicing his home country.

Yes, we have met within the past two years and no he is not currently in the US. He is in Haiti.

Okay my bad read it as he was there now. Then you can't just do AOS then you'll have to do K-1 visa.

Look at the guide at the top top. It not that long a process right now :)

How long does the whole process take to get a fiance visa?

You should likely review some of the recent threads in the K1 Progress forum in order to get an idea of current K1 visa processing times.

As someone currently going through the K1 process, we applied December 2015 and are waiting for our interview at his embassy in two weeks. Our process from start to interview date is going to be one week shy of 6 months.
