So I've been living in the US for about 6 years now. I decided to file citizenship next year coz I want to bring my family here in the US. Now , my best concern is whats the best option?

Both of my parents are all senior citizen that lives in the philippines. My mom is 62 and so my dad. I have an older sister on her 20's but married and got 2 kids ages 3 & 2. I would like to bring em all. If I will file for my sister next year once i'm done with my citizenship it would take 10-15 years for her visa to be granted.. That's a long process, and if I go the other way like getting my parents first and let them be a citizen so they can petition my older sister it would only take-- how long??

My parents are both retired and have no interest living in america for the rest of their lives knowing they have their grandkids living in the philippines. They even mentioned they will take a vacation but living here is a dif story..

For example, my parents will becme a USC but they're both senior citizen? Can they still file for a petition for my sister? and I will server as co-sponsor?

Or i should just start filling a petition for my sister and wait that long then a tourist visa for my parents?

I really miss them and I'm getting tired going home myself. I would like them to come visit me instead plus my job only allows me to have couple of days off a year. I'm single and no kids , moving my family here would help a lot.

Thank you!

Because your family is Philippino the wait for sister would be about 25 years, If you bring your parents and they petition for sis after they become citizens it will take 22 years after they obtain their citizenship. It would actually be faster at the current visa bulletin dates for you to petition for her.

hi

if they have no intention of living here, then why file for them? you can file for your sister and forget about the petition

the purpose of a green card Is to live here, not live in their country and use is for a tourist visa

also, the purpose of filing for a family member is for family reunification, if they don't live in the US or they don't return to the US, then there is no purpose for them to file for your sister

and another thing is if you file for them, they will become legal permanent residents, they don't become USC automatically, they have to live here and after 5 years of being a legal permanent resident, they can apply for citizenship and take the 100 question test

once they become USC, then they can file for your sister, not before, as legal permanent residents cannot file for married children, only USC parents can

they can apply for a tourist visa and try to visit you that way

My bad I thought it's only 10-15 years. Is there a chance for her to be granted for tourist visa you think?

Thank you and yes I am aware with the 5 years rule for them as LPR before the becme a USC. The reason why I asked about them living for atleast 5 years to be a USC is because of my sister.. I thought its gonna be faster them becoming a citizen and file for my sis to be LPR but boy I'm wrong :-/

Your sister can apply for a visitor visa by all means. No harm in trying. The chances of her receiving one is dependent on how she shows strong ties to her country. Having a family in the Philippines to return to is a good start.

As for your sister immigrating to the US either through you or your parents, it will take a very long time. In the eyes of the US government she is an adult and has already established a life and family in the Philippines so there is no urgency to migrate her here.

Being away from family is tough. We understand why you would want your family here but there is always huge sacrifices when immigration is involved. You are homesick which is understandable but your plan to "bring them all here" is not as simple as you think. Who knows, in 20 years you may have a souse and kids of your own and the sense of urgency for them to be here won't be as strong.

Maybe you can seek another job that gives you more than a couple of days off per year so you can visit more often.

Your sister would likely be in a similar situation in leaving her children behind.

Sounds the real issue is a job with inadequate vacation.
