Want to bring in-laws & bro-in-law to visit

Hello,

I would like to bring my in-laws and brother-in-law to visit from India for a few months. Most important are the in-laws, as we will be having a baby soon. Does anyone know if it will hurt my in-laws' chances of getting a tourist visa if my brother-in-law (their son) files along with them, since he is currently un-married? He does have a job in India.

A very good and very often asked question. Your family will have to prove to the satisfaction of the US consular official at the interviewing US embassy/consulate, that they have significant ties to India such that they would return to India after their US visit is completed. Such ties could include, property, house ownership, current stable employment, etc. Each visitor visa applicant is presumed to have immigration intent, and must prove that they are not trying to immigrate to the US. A letter from a doctor, any documents from you, or any other invitation-type letter would likely have no positive effect on the visitor visa approval.

how can you BIL take 'a few months off' whatever 'job' he has? Does India really offer months of paid vacation to employees? What sort of job does your wife have?

So if your brother is across from an officer and is asked what job he has that allows so much time off he better be prepared because it does seem suspicious.

Also, many foreign immigrants try to use visitor visas to have a relative babysit which is against the rules of the visa. It has been asked many times on this forum before. When you mention baby it brings up babysitting questions.

So you can use these "stupid" questions as a way to learn how the CO will scrutinize your families visa application and gain a better idea of their chances or you can continue to ignore them.
