My son in law went to Canada from NZ, a Commonwealth country mind, and has legal status and it took him 5 years. Disgruntled americans, who don't care for the new president elect, whoever that might end up being, are not refugees. Most of them don't understand that there is more to it than buying a ticket. Canada doesn't have to take you in, and allow you to remain, because you don't like the government where you live, and want to bail.

They can't just turn up and work, and expect to get benefits either. Canada doesn't work that way.

A green card is for living in the USA. It isn't for popping back in and out to attempt to maintain a status. The border people seeing that often enough are going to ask some fairly pointed questions.

Hardly.

I dunno. Where did the republicans run away to when Obama was elected? Uh...nowhere.

Speak for yourself. We ran to Saudi.

I lived in Alberta for over 10 years in various places. Well in Canada it's known as mini USA. Most highly liberal Americans would fit in as it's the most conservative province.

Would.

Conservative Canada is rather like liberal USA.

The prairie provinces tend to be more conservative. I think in the federal election before last (Harper's reelection) there was one NDP (New Democratic party) spot in the all of Alberta, and the rest was PC (progressive conservative.) Generally BC is a Liberal (as in the party, Liberal) and NDP, and Ontario tends to be majorly Liberal as well. They also hold the most seats in the house so tend to control the federal government.

How colorful are the big cities in Alberta? I'm from Toronto so I know where someone with a Pakistani background would "fit in" but what is it like in Alberta?

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

Theres a large poulation in the NE of calgary. Also a lot of Indians and other similar areas.

Theres smaller populations of Jamacians, and Caribbean countries. Hispanic and Latino are probably the least represented racially.
