Here's the story:

My fiance went to an interview for K1 visa at US Embassy in Manila. She answered all the questions and they took her passport. However, they told her, the police clearance from Hong Kong wasn't there.

We have been trying over and over to get the police clearance done but HK keeps saying they need a "letter". They have been sent her passport copies, the NVC letter, the embassy email she received, and her fingerprints and the HK paper request. They will not issue her a clearance without this "letter".

Then the US Embassy says there is no letter and what we sent should be everything. So we're being bounced back and forth and neither are budging and I'm thinking we're gonna get denied our visa because of one stupid piece of paper after all the (&*($#(&)@ we've been through in this process.

On top of all that, she wants to go to HK to try to get it directly but she doesn't have her passport because the Embassy took it at her interview. ####### are we supposed to do now???

Maybe I'm wrong but, she can't go to HK from the Phil without a passport....can she? And is there a waiver since HK won't give her the police clearance?

You need to provide the original and a photocopy (for each applicant) of the letter from NVC which contains his/her name and the checklist of documents necessary for obtaining a visa (the one that references the need for police certificates). Include the Embassy Letter P3.http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/K1-K2%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf

Maybe I wasn't clear...we sent everything that is necessary for a normal police clearance (see original post) and they said they needed an additional "letter" from the US Embassy stating that the clearance was needed for the K1 Visa.

The US Embassy says there is nothing else and directs us back to HK who then directs us back to the US Embassy.

Maybe we just got unlucky and dealt with someone new in HK or at the embassy.

Thanks for the replies. Unless you have information on obtaining a special "letter", we'll figure it out.

Make sure to check your SPAM filters for an email from the embassy with the 221g instructions, print a copy of that and take that to the HK embassy, it may just what HK wants.

And yes to travel to HK your fiancee will need her passport.

So now we have to wait for a 221g? That must be what they said they would email to her when they took her passport, but they still haven't sent it.

How long does it take to to send an email.....jeez.

I think it may help to get the clearance at least because it should say that they are requesting it for her visa but I wish we could just get whatever

it was they claimed to have sent in the first place so we don't have to wait longer.
