What kind of a hospital makes people wait in line at 3a? Yes, American hospitals no better charging some of us so much money due to cheap or limited insurance. But waiting in line at 3a??

Been there, done that, in America with even empty ERs.

But to answer the question, you need to explain what you mean. Lack of doctors for a large city? No other hospitals do exams?

No, not for the immigration medical. It MUST be done at that hospital.

Where is it said to line up at 3AM on the SLEC website, or even the embassy website ? No where.

Reception is open at 6AM, U.S. counter at 7:30AM arriving earlier than that is a personal decision, arriving later than that is a smarter decision

Are you talking about emergency situations or the medical exam?

I've been taken to the St. Luke's ER in their QC hospital at around 4-5am and I immediately got seen by a doctor. Maybe it was a slow morning but their ER isn't usually full. It's not like government hospitals that are full like all the time forever.

If you're talking about the medical exam, it's really not a requirement to be there at 3AM. Most SLEC employees I've talked to actually suggested coming after lunch because the lines are shorter and the tests are finished a lot more quicker.

must be that rumour of FIFO and queueing. Everyone loves to queue up, getting bonus points and the rumour of free breakfasts.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Why 3AM?

Because you are Pinay, in Manila, with a Filipino cultural mindset! Best to have a leisurely breakfast, show up before 9, let the 3AM throng thin out and join in at the end. You will still be accommodated with a lot less stress. 99% of Pinays won't believe it.

It just seems when my fiancee says she has to get in line by 3a because of how many people fill up for hours, hard to believe a hospital makes people do that. Then again, even in America all they care about is money, not helping those with no money. Still, lining up at 3-5a for an exam seems outrageous to me. Because this is the only hospital locally to do visa exams, plus the regular folk needing care?

I am trying to understand how this hospital works for curiosity.

As mentioned, no one was asked to line up at 3am nor St Lukes imposed to line up at 3-5am. They open at 6am, People just wanted to be there early to get in early and finish early. I never planned to line up at 3-5am; I'd rather get a decent sleep. I went there at 8am and no lines outside, get in and do the process.

St Lukes is not a fully functioning Hospital, the center is a dedicated facility for Medical Examinations of Immigrants, including Canada and New Zealand. So NO patients are waiting/ lining up outside to see a doctor.

Like already said, SLEC is not a hospital, it is a clinic dedicated to those processing visas.

You're working your brain too hard... relax.

If you fiancee wants to be there at 3AM because she "feels the need" bite your lip and let her do it her way.

As many have stated there is absolutely no reason to be at SLEC early.
