The K1 requires you to meet he person in the last 2 years prior to submitting your application.

You don't provide much details, but I highly suggest meeting your fiancee to see if you are compatible. Without actually have met, you will not be able to be successful with your petition (unless you have some grave circumstance that will not allow you to see her).

Best thing to do is meet in person.

Well, you would need to apply for a wavier, and a wavier for the meeting requirement is rarely granted. I guess it depends on your situation, but its not very likely you will be able to get a petition approved without meeting.

Meeting in person in the 2 years prior to filing is a requirement. Waivers for this requirement are almost *NEVER* approved. Better to find a way to meet in person and then file to avoid a lot of frustration and disappointment.

It is supposed to be required you are to have physically met in person with your fiance'(e) within 2 years of filing. Unless, there were certain valid reasons why you were not able to ever met physically in person. There will be more comments coming at ya on this. That is just the simplest explaination I could tell you. :thumbs:

That is a very difficult thing to do..

the RULES STATE

• You and your fiancé(e) intend to marry within 90 days of your

fiancé(e) entering the U.S.; and

• You are both free to marry; and

You have met each other in person within two years before you

file this petition unless:

1. The requirement to meet your fiancé(e) in person would

violate strict and long-established customs of your or your

fiancé(e)’s foreign culture or social practice; or

2. You prove that the requirement to personally meet your

fiancé(e) would result in extreme hardship to you.

I have rarely seen anyone.. ever..ever ever.. get approved for the reasons for not having met.. such as stated in 1 & 2

Love isn't love unless it is expressed;

caring isn't caring unless the other person knows;

sharing isn't sharing unless the other person is included

As other posters have said, generally you need to have met your fiance/fiancee within two years before filing the I129F petition. As far as I know, there have been NO successful challenges to this requirement by VJ members whose posts that I have read since I have been a member. I'm not saying it can't happen, but it's not very likely.

Good Luck

Just curious--and I'm sure it will help other more experienced VJ'ers answer you better

Why haven't you or why can't you two meet in person?

I'm seeing Iraq as the foreign country--I can't imagine visiting either way can be an easy thing at this point in time but I'm not sure if that is a good enough reason.

I would also suggest checking out the forum that deals with specific counties or regions--it's in the second batch of forum headings on the forums page.

Oh yeah---WELCOME TO VISAJOURNEY!! it's a long road but everyone here is on a similar path and are a great source of support of information so don't be shy to explain your situation and ask questions-also-read as much as you can on here so you have a better understanding of all the processes-it will help in asking questions

Best of luck!!!

You can see thousands of results by looking here. The link is from the old USCIS site so it doesn't have 2006 listed, but none the less more than enough to give you an idea.

Best thing to do is meet in person.

There are exceptions - like if your long time family customs forbid you to meet in person or if it would prove to be a hardship to meet in person. It states those exceptions on the i-129 instruction page.
