Hi everyone,

My husband and I sent in our initial ROC packet in July of 2015. The wait seemed forever, and on January 3rd we received an RFE. We send in a bunch of new stuff on 2-2-2016. I'm just wondering if this means we are going to have to wait ANOTHER 6 months or more for them to look at our stuff again. We only have the extension for one year after his visa expired (which was November 2015) so I'm concerned if there is going to be a delay then even his extension might run out.

Does anyone know if the packets including documents in response to the RFE are looked at sooner than the other cases which haven't even been started yet?

What did you send with your packet as evidence?

Yes you are gonna wait again. What did you send in the original packet as evidence and what was the RFE for?

Do not listen to what people say. Each RFE is different, I've seen cases that got approved within days after responding to RFE. Check for instance March 2015 timelines for CSC RFE's. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/538413-i-751-march-2015-filers/page-49

One of them waited 8 days but note that one waited 45 days, and one even got interviewed two months after responding to RFE. So each case is different but shouldn't take another 6 months. Good luck!

Alright, I'll try to keep this in mind. They wanted to see financial co-mingling, so I sent them as much as I could. Our service center is California. Don't know if that makes a difference.

California is much faster than Vermont for regular ROC processing but I am not sure if two are different when it comes to adjudicating RFEs. There were some RFEs in May and April timelines, check those too but I didn't see anyone waited more than 1-2 months for RFE decision.

If it takes a long time and you are nearing the expiration of the extension (you are within a month), you can get an I-551 stamp in your passport if you go for an Infopass at your local USCIS office. Bring proof that your I-751 case is still pending (NOA1, RFE letter, if they sent you an "RFE answer received" letter, than that, too. ) An I-551 stamp is the same as a GC. They usually give one that's good for a year.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't thinking that far ahead but I will definitely keep this in mind in case it does take a while.

We waited a little over six months after submitting our RFE materials for ROC. It would have been sooooooo worth it to give them what they wanted initially.

Good Luck.

Ug, I know. I feel the same way. I was thinking to myself "Eh, this might not be enough but I'm sure it'll be fiiiine". I definitely should have gone with my gut feeling and gotten the other stuff straightened out earlier on. I know someone who filed for the same thing about two weeks before my husband and I did, and they just got their card last week. Now here I am waiting to even find out if they looked at my new evidence yet :( What a mess.
