Oh well my friends. Haven't been here for a while. It has been almost 2 months since getting the EAD and AP. Of course we are anxious so why not have our Congressman send an inquiry on I-485 status. Here's what we get back:

"U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records confirm that xxxxxxx’s cases are pending background check clearance. USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely manner while also ensuring public safety and national security. A small percentage of applications and petitions have unresolved background check issues that temporarily delay adjudication. Although USCIS makes every effort to resolve such cases promptly, USCIS is unable to speculate when the background check will be completed.

If a background check reveals an issue that may impact an applicant’s eligibility for the requested immigration benefit, further inquiry is needed. The inquiry may include an additional interview and/or contact with another agency for updates or more comprehensive information. Upon gathering and assessing all available information, USCIS will adjudicate the application as quickly as possible.
USCIS realizes that your constituent may be frustrated by the progress of their cases. However, the agency must balance individual inconvenience against broader issues of public safety and national security.
Please note xxxxxx was granted an emergency advance parole (xxxxxxxxx) on 03/xx/2016 valid for travel until 03/xx/2017. She will be able to travel on this document while her Form I-485 is pending."
So the keyword here is "Unresolved background check". My wife and I are clean as white paper. So let's see if USCIS will send us an RFE. If not, then I can only hope this will get resolve soon.

I see, thanks for the explanation. It's been 81 days for me, so I think I'll go ahead with either info pass or service request soon.

It's really interesting to see how they managed to put a group of applicants' address into a black hole which cost us many weeks of delayed processing.

With the "2nd" request for help of the congressman's office (the first one was to add address which USCIS had no record of / getting the fingerprinting appointment setup), we were able to get the EAD finally approved 6 weeks from the fingerprint date. After we waited 30+ days from the fingerprint date, I got in touch with the congress' office. After they contacted USCIS and requested accelerated process for EAD/AP. We were also told that the status of the AOS application is still "pending".

Why we got a email notification for EAD only (currently it's being mailed), not the combo card? Has anyone experienced similar case receiving non-combo card?

We had a similar experience with EAD being approved and the card arrived the same day AP was approved. However, when looking at the card it says it also serves as Advanced Parole, so it is actually a combo card even though the approval came the same day the card arrived. We also never go the paper approval letter for the AP, just saw that it was approved online.

We have very similar timelines and had the same issues with our cases. My case status for EAD has now updated to "card being produced", but AP has not changed (still says case received). However, I received a hard-copy approval notice for the AP yesterday (but no hard copy letter for EAD). What a mess of a system! They don't seem very diligent about updating the online case statuses these days, so it's possible that your AP was approved on the same day as your EAD but that they never updated the case status or sent the letter. If you want to be sure, you could call USCIS and talk to a tier 2. The customer support people who you first talk to won't know anything because all they have access to is the online case status, but tier 2 should be able to confirm whether your AP was approved or not.

Really sorry to hear it! Have you tried filing a complaint with the cis ombudsman? You could also file another service request that specifically says that you want your case expedited due to being outside processing times. The only other thing I can think of is reaching out to your other elected officials, such as state senators. They may be more helpful than your congressman has been.

My EAD was approved on April 27, we got the mail of the "Approve Notice" but still no card in hands.

What is unexplained to me is that on May 11 I notice online a change of my status. It changed from "Approved Notice" to "Appointment notice was mailed". What is that???? Appointment for EAD??? ( The same even for AP).

Tomorrow we have an infopass appointment, but as much I have read here, it doesnt help anything.

We must be really really pation in this process.

Guys and gals, can you believe it that I applied in Dec 2015 for my AOS after marriage to US citizen and also my I- 130 and I-765 and AP. I have NOT EVEN HAD my biometrics till now!!! I called the USCIS people in April and they said they don't seem to find anything wrong with my application. I made an infopass appointment on May 17th and guess what! The next day I got an update that I will have my biometrics in early June. I don’t have an idea what was going on and where my file was but apparently they woke up after the infopass appointment.

Secondly, my 17 year old son is abroad and my husband has applied for his I-130. We just got an update saying that petition has been approved and we should wait for the notice for next steps. What does this mean? How much time it will take. He is in Karachi, Pakistan.

Please do reply!! this is a great forum and it provides excellent support. Love you all and best of luck to all of us!!

Congradulation for your apdates. Its a good sign that things have started to move. And I found your coment here usfull for my case because I have an infopass appointment tomorrow and to tell the truth I bearly was believing it coukd do anything. But youre the third case that have had positive result after an infopass appointment.

About your question, I dont know anything , but check the timeline. For spouse I think it get 9-12 months. Maybe is the same for your san.

Yup I can see that we have the same NOA on the 1/29, no address issue, etc... pretty much the same timeline :) I'm currently on a business trip so I can't check the mail box; but I'm hoping I'll find the combo card in the mailbox waiting for me.

One more thing. USCIS sent me one email notification few days ago about our inquiry to update the address (more like ADD as they have never had our address in the system) on 3/1???? which basically indicating that they have worked on our inquiry and letting us know after almost 3 months later

Hello everyone!

Finally this morning I had my interview for the Green Card!

The person who interviewed us was really nice, nothing scaring at all.

He made us a couple of questions about how we met, and that's it. I handled him my support documents that he kept (they were all copies). I didnt bring any documents that I already submitted filling the AoS last January.

He told us this Friday is gonna review all today interviews and he is gonna likely grant me the Green Card.

So, hopefully I'll receive updates this Friday!

I'll keep you updated, if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer you!

Hi, congratulations on your interview. I'm sure you'll get s positive response soon.

Could you tell me if you sent any "relationship proof" when you filed and what kind of support documents you handed at the interview? Thanks!
