That's understandable, most consumer products don't kill tens of thousands of people each year, if they did they would be off the market altogether. The only thing that comes to mind for me would be cigarettes or tobacco, but I still don't think that would be a true comparison.

Why do you despise being limited on your gun choices? Why do you want or need more? I'm trying to understand why people feel this way.

As a responsible gun owner it is my right to own as many as I want.

FBI declared it Islamic Terrorism.

Denial benefits no one. Especially the denier.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

That tends to fit with what I've heard, but everyone is has their own preferences, I get it.

Outside of shotguns and revolvers, we've got rifles. Why would anyone need more than a singleshot or bolt action rifle realistically?

I appreciate you having this conversation.

Small input here. Now, I grew up in a place where the only people that had guns were the bad guys.. contrast that to where I live now and I'm surrounded by persons who own multiple firearms of every sort. On an average day I hear gunshots multiple times per hour from a gun range, woodlands, and from donuts who think it's funny to blast off some rounds in their backyards (because that's so safe). This fascination with non-responsible gun ownership and a penchant for firing them whilst intoxicated has led to not only the homicide of a child but numerous times when bullets have gone through unsuspecting neighbors homes. I won't ever forget the day the homicide happened. The police went door to door and removed every firearm from each house trying to find the culprit. The amount of guns I saw gave me pause.

They have these guns for hunting and protection. I appreciate that my neighbors have enough firepower to keep the block safe. What I don't appreciate is the irresponsible use of them. It's been a shock to my husband to live in an area surrounded by guns, to see them lined on the store shelves. We even saw a machete the other day. I have many friends and family that carry a variety of other items for self defense purposes, and I have often thought about it myself. We often go hiking and camping, or have to travel into areas that aren't exactly safe. And yet, I have never once thought about arming myself with a gun, when I am confident in knowing and having other means of self defense. Taking a life. Any life, is a serious matter to me. I sincerely hope that the majority of 'responsible' gun owners take that thought just as seriously before they boast like a knucklehead how much 'heat' they are packing.

I'll never really understand the need to constantly hunt or why multiple weapons are needed for 'protection'. I don't think you'll ever get a straight answer on it. But the thing is you can probably surmise as well as I can why a person doesn't want such a right to have as many as you can taken from them. Fear is a powerful motivator and so is the psychology behind owning something that powerful. Do I believe that we as a society need guns so much that a person can hoard a cache of 6000 rounds of ammo, military style machine guns, body armor, and god knows what else, unstopped - no. But good luck getting that to change.

That's like seriously the most ridiculous thing that I have ever heard.

For one, you don't call them the deceased. You call them what they are - the terrorists.

For two, this "it pisses me off that people think all of us are terrorists so I'll go kill them and prove them right theory" is beyond retarded. Get real.

They are not deceased? I have no trouble calling them terrorists if that proves to be the motive for this incident.

You, for such a self described super genius, sure failed to comprehend what I wrote.

I don't and did not say I thought feeling harassed for being a Muslim is a justification for becoming Radicalized. I said clearly that it could be a factor in the irrational thinking of the, prior to this incident responsible American gun owner, who happened to also be Muslim. So if the religious harassment angle turns out to be true then my statements stand up as possible motivation leading up to this mass shooting.

Pretending to be bothered by statements I did not make is a disingenuous way to avoid my ultimate question. Why is this horrific mass shooting more horrific than the other bi-monthly mass shooting events the US experiences, even if the motivation proves to be Islamic Extremism?

You know someone who has a machine gun?

What is a non military machine gun?

My school had a shooting range and CCF etc so they were around, no idea what the situation is now.

But I agree about just letting the bad guys have guns does not seem that logical.
