hey i went to change my name with social security today and got a direct no! apparently because my visa is now out of date i can't change it, i didn't know if any of you guys needed to change this but if you do try and do it before your visa is out of date or you have to wait for your ead to be in hand for it to be changed to married name which obviously effects applying for jobs and working because it all needs to match up!

Date Filed : November 12th

NOA : November 16th

Biometrics : December 7th

Approved EAD&AP : January 29th

Card Mailed : February 2nd
Received Card : February 5th

When I got my SSC, I was told that once i get married, to change the name. So, I went with my marriage license, and my visa had like 28 days more before it exprires and they told me that I couldnt change the name bc they cant issue any document with a visa with less of 30 days of validity. when I told the person that when I went there the first time they told me another thing, this person said that person was wrong. They can only issue 10 SSC in a lifetime and that they cant change it everytime i get a new document, and that have to come back once I have the GC or EAD.

What I hate of this whole process is that people dont really know what to say. I have been given different answers not only from the SS office but from DMV too. Anybody know anything, and everyone give you a different answer for the same question.

Im so sick of this "limbo", I can't wait to get the GC in my hands and rest of all this visa process for a couple a years.

Well, we just got our RFE notification via text and email last night. I felt like we included everything we needed and then some in the packet so we'll see when we get the letter. On a brighter note my husband had his biometrics appt yesterday!

Well, we just got our RFE notification via text and email last night. I felt like we included everything we needed and then some in the packet so we'll see when we get the letter. On a brighter note my husband had his biometrics appt yesterday!

Sorry about the RFE. Your case seem to be moving along. I am still waiting for ny husband biometrics letter. I am running out to the mailbox every thirty minutes or so to check the mail. Nerve wrecking.

Thank you! I'm sure you'll get the letters soon. I was excited how everything was moving along to until I got the notice, but we shall see!

The comforting thing is that others have had their EAD/AP approved even while waiting to send back the RFE.

I am November filer. I was waiting for the biometric notice but Just got today Request for Initial Evidence update :(.

Not sure what is it about but will inform you guys when it arrives.
