Thats great, anybody know about ATL airport? actually most all are automated now, I have made a bunch of trips in the last few years, scan the passport, take a photo, then roll thru the desk. I may plan my trip back with her through NYC first since thats the case, if your standing there with the Immigrant it cuts way down on the questions they could possibly ask

Hello. On October 13, 2013 we arrived at Atlanta. I thought we had to go through separate lines. After walking about 20 minutes from the plane to immigration checkpoint(After about 22 hours journey), we were dead tired. What happened next was surprising. You will be happy to hear this. Wife was holding that package they gave her at the Embassy that you are not supposed to open. So once we are about to join a very long line, a security guard approached us and asked my wife if she is a new immigrant. I chipped in and said yes she is. Security guard then asked me if I was her spouse/petitioner and when I said yes she said follow me both of you. To my surprise we bypassed a few hundred people in line to a reserved area for processing new immigrants. Only few people were there ahead of us. She was done in less then 10 minutes and as a courtesy they also processed my US passport. They were also happy to have me since it was easy for them. Because I was able to answer all the questions for her and they also explained clearly everything in detail about what to do next. Atlanta now has a state of the art International terminal so you both will be out of there in no time. I would be standing in line for couple of hours if they didn't take me with my wife. So go ahead book ticket through Atlanta. The world's busiest airport in the world. Proud to call my home.

I think it may depend on where your poe is. My husband was with me the whole time.

When I visit my husband, I usually fly through Newark (New York City) and I've seen a couple of people there come with an immigration visa on two separate occasions. Both were directed to use the queue for USC/LPRs rather than the visitors queue. So at Newark, it seems you can enter with your wife if you want.

If you're wife's not used to travelling, I'm sure she'll appreciate not having to do the long trip and the "airport dance" on her own.

We arrived at Chicago POE in November 2013. I took my fiancee and her son with me into the USC line. (I figured it's easier, and if wrong, someone will tell us how to do it right.) When it was our turn I stepped forward and told the CO, "I'm bringing in my fiancée and son." CO told them to step forward, went through the proper incoming procedure, and we were through in 5 minutes. Couldn't have been easier.

We came through Chicago too. My Husband went in the same line as me. Then we both went the to the area where they took his package and waited together. One of officers was complaining it was a busy day for new immigrants. But overall they were nice about everything.

At Chicago I went through the USC line with my husband. The guy at the desk was very chatty, did what he could there, then sent me to secondary. All done in less than ten minutes.

I also went through the USC line at Detroit with my husband and stepson before I even got my visa, no problem there either.
