My time until approval (still waiting) has exceeded my Timeline estimate. I know that the estimate does not guarantee approval within these dates, however it does show that others are getting approvals much quicker. It's been 25 days and counting since NOA-1. I'm really kicking myself for the missing signature because I originally sent the petition at the end of June. :crying:

I'm curious to know, is there anyone else with a NOA-1 date of August 11th or before that has still not received NOA-2?

From a Timeline search displaying 100 results (from a total of 247 cases matching my search criteria) of K1 visas being processed at CSC with NOA-1 dates no later than August 08, of these 100, 5 have not received any action (NOA-2 or RFE). My case did not show in these 100 results, but I guess I fall within the estimated unlucky 5%. <_< ..... I further expanded my search to include cases between the August 10th and 11th only to show the remaining cases and the results came up with 2 more with no action bringing the total estimated number to 7 (~3%). Again I wasn't included in this list and the maximum display results were not meet this time around, so it appears the amount of cases fitting this criteria is underestimated. Additionally, generation of the display results is random (I searched several times to verify this) and there many be other cases that were not displayed the first time with NOA-1 dates prior to August 10th. And there are many users without a timeline, let alone who are not on VJ, so it is by all means not comprehensive and the estimate can be taken lightly.

These beneficiaries' countries included Brazil (NOA-1 July 02), Slovakia (NOA-1 July 22) , Iran (NOA-1 July 28), Canada (NOA-1 Aug 08), Philippines (NOA-1 Aug 10), Colombia (NOA-1 Aug 10), and Vietnam (NOA-1 Aug 10).

Wishing us all approvals in the near future.

This was a long waste of time, but anything to procrastinate from writing my thesis

Thanks Greenbaum. Hey is NVC sending something with the MNL number? I don't think my fiance is that patient to call NVC and ask for it being on hold for minutes! Yes, he can be that impatient. I just plan to email and ask for my MNL maybe after 3 weeks, while I am in California. Your thoughts please.

The trick is to call at 7:00 am EDT. You get in on the first two or three rings but wait till later well.... bring your lunch and dinner while you wait.

You can save up to two months if you get your MNL# just after being notified that your application has bee approved. Get the best phone numbers from my website. See signature box and twisting arrow. Follow the link.

Hi Greenbaum,

Thank you for being helpful.

I have a question: how does knowing your MNL# help? How does it save you time? Are there documents that you can submit once you have your MNL# and is that how you save time?

I am not there yet. I am still waiting for NOA2. According the VJ timeline, I should get my NOA2 next week.

Thanks again.

Once you have a case number and NOAII hard receipt, you can start preparing for your interview without waiting for the packet. Most of the VJ embassy forums already post what the packets details so you can start working on those documents. Most police certificates require you to be at the NOAII stage to be able to request a police certificate and to set up an dr's appointment. So basically if you have the case number and the NOAII, you can start working on gathering documents while the NVC is still mailing your case.

August filer here. Received NOA1 on Aug. 27. I'm excited to see that the time frames coming out of CSC are fairly quick. Keeping my fingers crossed we don't run into any road blocks.

My fiance is from Venezuela and I am slightly worried about the political situation going on there currently. Anyone else have a FI from a country that is going through political and economical uncertainty? I'd really like to hear other's experiences.

For those who are being interviewed in the Embassy in the Philippines those are the ones who I speak to about getting their MNL# case number (by the way each embassy has a different case number prefix for the Philippines it is MNL for Manila. for Canada it is MTL for Montreal etc.). Each embassy has a different course that their applicants will travel on based on the needs of the embassy. Not all embassies have the same procedure to get to the visa issuance. Why is the Philippines different? The fact that I am advocating to getting the number early is because they have a very unreliable postal system in their country, and their Packet 3 does not get delivered. So a Filipino who is waiting for their P3 (embassy instructions for the interview), which never comes, finds themselves in a very delayed predicament.

As I have said each embassy is different. Check with your embassy's web page to familiarize yourself with their process AND I recommend that once you receive you approval, NOA2, that you begin transitioning over to the sub-regional discussion thread for your country to read what others are experiencing. That area is full of a wealth of information. Staying here and depending on others doesn't make sense after the NOA2 because everyone is petition from a different embassy with different procedures. It only becomes confusing and possibly, causing a delay in your process.

I hope this helps.
