It is not 6 months, that timeline is to calm you down. Everyone is waiting at least 8 months and up. My sister has been waiting from July 2014.

Sorry but conditional GC counts from the day they approve it.

We've been waiting since April 2014.

What kind of RFE did they request?

They just asked for a copy of his divorce with translation. We'd included it in the package originally, but when the government asks for something again you send it.

We also the I-485 application in April 2014 and received a NPIW letter in August 2014. Then nothing happened until we received a notice of interview in May 2015 for June 10, 2015. At our interview, the officer mentioned the fact that the medical exam might be out of date (it was done in November 2013), but I guess she was able to waive that issue because the Green Card arrived on June 17. She was pretty poker-faced during the interview, but having now read the various posts about expired medical exams we are are very grateful that she cut us a break and did not require a new medical exam.

Is anyone else experiencing a really long wait for the AOS?

We submitted the I-485 along with I-765 back in February, had biometrics on 12th March and got my work card at the end of April.

That meant the I-765 was fine but we got a RFE for the AOS (USCIS had lost some documents in our package, so our lawyer sent them again) and they sent us receipt of this on 9th April.

I called them on 8th June (The date we were supposed to have heard something by) and got nothing out of them apart from that we have just to wait.

Then a week ago I got a letter saying that this is a potential waiver case but that they are currently six months behind so I should expect to hear something by the end of the year with that timescale.

Has anyone else received this letter? Really pissed off at the amount of time this is taking. I assume that conditional permanent residency is backdated to when I entered the US, or our marriage date at least?

Thanks

Got to do more reading on the site.

Congrats for the approval, :D

Thanks! I hope you receive positive news soon...as with the OP :)

I'm grateful for having the medical waived too. I was worried we might have to add that to our list of expenses. Congrats on your approval!

How do you feel about this? Is it frustrating? I pretty much told my fiancee that she can come and relax and just work on English and getting acclimated to the US for the first year. I don't want her feeling stress about getting a greencard. What worries me is how she can get a license to drive while waiting.

Once your fiancee has her Employment Authorisation she can then apply for a social number. Once you have that she can then apply for a driving licence.

When I went to obtain a licence when I got here, I was told I couldn't because I needed a social number.

However, I can drive here for up to a year on my UK licence, provided I carry my passport in the car along with my UK licence, so don't sweat, I'm sure the requirement is the same for other countries as well.

1. You can get a SSN as soon as you arrive in the USA. If you get married before getting your SSN, then you have to wait until you receive your EAD (I think that's only the case if you're female and change your name, otherwise you can get a SSN until a couple weeks before your K-1 expires).

2. In some states, you need more than just an ID and SSN for a DL. For instance in DC , you need to have proof you'll here beyond a certain amount of time (90 days? 6 months? I forget). The NOA1 for AOS is sufficient in that case.

In any event, she certainly won't have to wait until she gets her GC to get a drivers license.

For those who are waiting for GC, please be patient. I know it's a long waiting with anxiety and concerns.

It happened to me as well.

My total journey is 10 months and 10 days since the day I submitted I 485

Jul 16, 2014: Submitted I 485 and I 765

Aug 8,2014: Biometrics done

Sep 14,2014: Received EAD card

Dec 31,2014: Received letter from USCIS regarding potential interview waiver

Jan-Feb,2015: I called USCIS few times checking on the progress of my case. I was told it's because of the workload

that delayed the whole process. They apologised since it's nothing related to my case that caused the delay

May6,2015: Homeland security sent me letter asked for support document such as married certificate (which i sent at the very

first place, bank account and bonafide relationships)

May 7,2015: Sent out document

May 26,2015: NOA Green Card approved!

May28,2015: GC arrived by mail.

Please hang in there. I know it's tough. but soon you all will get approved. Good luck

Hello, my husband and i had our green card interview in Oct/2014, the interview was not bad, the officer asked some questions and she said was not 100% sure. We didnt get approved but she didn't denied too. Since that i haven't heard nothing about the case, in Feb/2015 we had a Infopass and they just told us the case is pending. I was wondering if anybody had a similar case and wouldn't mind to share with me??

why do you think they said they were unsure? were you not living with your spouse?

If my fiance wants to change her last name to mine would it make sense to get a social before or after marriage?
