How do you explain the cases where they hitch up with complete dicks and then when they do move on seem to do so to exactly the same type.

I happen to know someone that was abused as a child, with no acknowledgement or attempt to get her out of that situation by her family. The abuse of course came from important male figures in her life. It became the normal for her. She knows it's not normal, but the trauma from that abuse has stayed with her. She will indeed gravitate toward men who display the same exact behaviour, and I am concerned for her every single time she is in those situations. Men who behave that way are the only men she really knows, and that is what she is used to from a psychological standpoint. How to make her realize this is a mystery to me.

And yes, Nature Boy, some women may be attracted to the allure of a 'bad boy'. What that really means is that they are looking for a psychological or emotional void or need for protection to be filled. They didn't feel strong or protected as a child by their male role model. They're looking for a protective 'tough guy', someone a little wild they think they can tame. Likewise, some men may also be attracted to personality types they really shouldn't be involved with.

But let's hear it for the nice guys, who should be appreciated a lot more by women, but often get ignored.

We all want good men but the truth is it does take the two who are in the relationship to work at it, it won't just fall in your lap, it all takes work! It's 50/50 but if your giving 50/ and he's giving 30 or 20 then it's a goner! It's just you will have to over come and find the strength and will to walk away! It's easier said than done and some of us just dont have it in us or we think we can't do it! And if you do have the will power watch out!
