That is a similar question I just asked in another forum earlier. My interview is May 13 and my 2-year anniversary is October 13. I want to wait until my anniversary to activate the IR-1 although we had filed for CR-1. Nevertheless, once you enter the US soil at any POE, you will be assigned whatever Green Card is applicable at the time of entry (2-years and over marriage gets 10 year; 2 years and younger marriage gets CR-1).

With just 2 weeks before your anniversary, it makes more sense to just wait until after your anniversary date. I have decided to wait out the 5 months to October 13. I would still be within the allotted 6-month period that they allow approved immigrants to activate the Green Card.

Work related reasons, I have to leave as soon as I get back the visa

I submitted an expedite request for the Kingston office on 4/23 it was approved today. Does anyone know how soon after the request is approved I can expect the interview date? I called NVC and the rep stated the case will be shipped soon but they have no more info about my case from this point on.

My Police report expires in November (which would be 6 months after my interview). I plan to leave immediately after my 2nd anniversary. It will give me more time to wrap up loose ends here as well.

That's the problem is that there aren't many from my country (Guatemala). There was someone else who got a cc on March 23rd & interview scheduled March 26th! It's frustrating because he got interview after only 3 days & I've waited 38! And my cc came only 2 days after he got scheduled!! I guess I simply missed that round of scheduling for my embassy :( there is someone else from there who got cc on April 20th. So I'm watching them and as long as I don't get passed up by them, all I can do is wait!

Looks like there is a whole bunch of us here who got the word of mouth that interview has been scheduled but no email for that fact. Moreover when I check my case its still "At NVC". Today is the sixth day and honestly I am a little panicking; for one we need the interview letter to schedule Medical exam and secondly my interview is 6/4 which is 29 days away! Kenya is not like Europe or even Americas that a package can just take one direct flight. To Europe is half the journey still 4,000 Miles to go.

I might be overthinking this but I don't want my wife to miss this interview!

Husbands interview is in 15 minutes here in Bangkok!! Waiting and hoping that after this long process he finally has good news :)

Good luck...praying for you.
