Really?? Huh. Did you call or send an email? I've sent an email to my embassy asking if my wife can accompany me and they said yes and asked for her name so she can be added to the visitors list.

Edited: ooops...you sent an email:)

Good luck!!!

Montreal also specifically put in their P4 letter not to bring anyone, citing small space. So, must vary according to embassy/consulate.

I was somewhat shocked about the denial. Maybe next week I will send them an email and ask them if they really confirm that he can´t attend.

Is it because of the category of F2A or what? What is going on n Ireland. :luv::protest::ranting:

Surpirse surprise we got through to a rude NVC staffer, who cant or cant be assed helping us - " cant see anything here" and "cant tell you anything" to all our questions... and like that, something so simple turns a great day into an not as good as it was a half an hour ago day :/

Dont know how far of a travel hassle it would be for your partner to go (and possibly be denied at the door). Depending on the amount of disappointment you would feel if he was denied entry, you may want to "ask forgiveness, rather than permission"?

I have read some VJers review the Montreal Consulate and say that they brought their spouse, despite being told not to... maybe have a read through and see what it says about where you will be interviewing?

Mine's going to be taking care of the baby at the hotel.

May 8th. Wow. Lightening fast. DWheels, could you add us to your wonderful database? Thank you again for all of your reassurance and cool-headed advice. You truly are a gift!

Aaah don't bother....

I don't know where the embassy in Frankfurt is located but.... Take your husband with you, let he wait outside in some coffee shop. Like someone said before, take his passport and if they asked about him just say he was not allowed to come and that he is anxiously waiting outside....

He will be here in Germany anyways and will drive down to Frankfurt with me anyways. Our interview will be at Frankfurt General Consulate in Germany. I´ve read and actually know people who took their spouse into the interview with them. And that gave me the impression that Frankfurt is a pretty take-it-easy consulate. That is why we are a little bit shocked that they say no. Their website states:

"My spouse, who is a U.S. citizen, has filed the immigrant visa petition on my behalf. Is he/she required to attend the immigrant visa interview with me? No. There is no requirement that the U.S. citizen attend the immigrant visa interview. There is also no requirement that your spouse remains in Germany until you are issued with your immigrant visa; he or she may travel to the United States ahead of you"

That means in my understanding it is not required but it is not said that they are not allowed.

Thanks Suzie! What do you mean call them before? I will be doing my POE through montreal airport to NYC. So i call the american customs and immigration and let them know that at the airport??? Hmm interesting  … I wonder where i can get the number from...

There is no need to call Montreal. That is a major international airport.

If you were coming in on a boat to Lahaina, Hawaii, it would be different. But there is no need to notify Montreal.

I am not good in test / exam situations, never was and never will. Still asking myself how I passed school LOL

Yes, I know, Germany should be fine but not letting my husband attend make me thinking again :(

Oh well, at least he comes with me and can wait outsite. :)

You'll be great! The Senegal embassy is like this too, no one allowed in except for the person interviewing. I'm the USC, so I waited outside (1.5 hours). We just did a bunch of extra practice sessions ahead of time since my husband wasn't very familiar with how I had organized the paperwork and his culture is not big on memorizing important dates! And he brought in my passport to show that I was waiting outside which I think was nice and showed the CO that I was really there in person and really live abroad with him.

Jamy, it states that a spouse isn't required to attend. It doesn't state that he can't attend with you, therefore he's more than welcome to join :) Congrats, my wife will be there on the 27th of May!
