Hello everyone! I am trying to find others who have a similar situation. We've been living together in Istanbul for 8 years and have a 6-year-old son together, but we just got married last month. I have been offered a great job in NYC which I plan to move back there and start work next week. How can I get my husband there as quickly as possible? I need him to help take care of our son. Thank you everybody and good luck with

your own visas as well!

You will have to file the same IR-1/CR-1 process as everyone else, I believe, but you may be able to get the first stage of the process done quicker with DCF - see this guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/dcf

Note that even if you can't file directly withe the consulate, often times processing at USCIS is quicker for citizens outside the US, though this seems to depend on which USCIS service center your case gets sent to. You can search the forums for more information.

For more information on the process generally, see the guides section of this website.

There is no USCIS field office in Turkey so DCF is not an option for the OP.

You can try and apply for a financial loss expedite, but they are going to wonder why they kid can't just be watched by your husband in Turkey and it is not likely to be approved.

If you use a foreign address on the form, processing might be quicker, but be prepared for it not to be.

Hi,

Unfortunately, the quickest route is the same route that other couples are on. It takes 6-12 months for a USC to petition a spouse. Many of these couples have children and have to endure one absent parent.

Best of luck.
