Hi all,

I'm a US citizen, my wife is a Ukrainian citizen, and we just got married in Ukraine, so I'm starting the CR1 process to bring her over to the US. My question is what can I use as evidence of a bona fide marriage? The examples given in the guide do not really apply to us: we do not have joint ownership of property, or joint tenancy of common residence, and we do not have any kids yet. There must be other things we could use as evidence, since it's unlikely we are the first with this issue? We obviously don't want to risk getting denied due to lack of evidence, but what can we submit?

Thanks!

You need to create a narrative. Provide evidence that documents how you first met, how often you visited each other, any corespondence, such as emails and letters, photographs of you two together at various times, meeting family, engagement, wedding, and such. Usually the petition portion is not that difficult. You will have time between now and when she is interviewed for her visa to further establish a bona fide marriage.

I am in the same situation so I am curious to see the replies. I went to Pakistan, got married, spent a week, then came home. We had a traditional wedding so I sent photos from a professional photographer that showed all stages of the wedding and some from afterwords that included family members. I also sent photos we took during the remainder of the week while we were out doing things and sent Skype screenshots - just one for each week that covered a few months, not all of them. Then I wrote a letter explaining why we couldn't provide any financial or residence information. I have to hope it will be enough for now.

I hope that helps some but I'm sure others here know much more than I do!

I got married in manila and had my petition approve what I sent in besides the require forms was boarding passes and receipts from there to show I went there also copy of my passport stamps and pictures of me and her and her family. To prove our relationship more I sent in facebook chats with her and a couple with different members of her family, I sent in copies of cell phone text and receipts for gifts that I sent her. I also sent a receipt of her wedding and engagement ring with a picture of us showing it off on facebook

Hi guys

we were on same situation and it took months for us to collect documents.

Never knew that we needed all those ... So it was painful task

1. Phone bills and phone records

2. Emails and cards exchanged

3. My wife put me on all the beneficiary plans from works, bank, insurance etc

4. She also put me on mortgage

5. We opened joint account in my country and sent bank statement too.

6. We go affidavits from fren and family about our relationship and them knowing it.

7 we got tons of photos of ours together.

8 we collected all flight, train, bus, hotel whatever we could

9 also copies of her visa to show that she came to visit me

10. We sent copy of our marriage certificate.

And couple of more things i don't remember but yea the total package was somewhere around 300 pages or so.

And we have not yet received noa2 ... We filed on Sept and hoping by end of Feb we hear from uscis .

Good luck with journey guys.
