Call USCIS firstly, and follow the advice from Saylin's NVC process wiki;

"...if your case doesn't arrive at NVC in a timely manner (timely manner being the current wait time), VJ member tokinaija suggests: "Call USCIS, and specifically request to be connected to a Tier 2 supervisor (bypassing the contract customer reps). When connected to a Tier 2 representative, request that you want confirmation that your approved case has been physically shipped to NVC. In amenable words, request for the specific date that the package was shipped. If you are lucky, you will get someone who would take the time to confirm this for you."

If you can get that confirmation, call the NVC. Our NOA2 dates aren't that far apart. It took just over a month from NOA2 for our case to reach the NVC, and then a further 3 weeks for our case number to be assigned. Hopefully, given the amount of time since your NOA2, it's reached the NVC and a case number/IIN has been allocated.

Gotcha, thanks a lot. I just wish there was some way I could stay in the US with my fianceé during this whole process, but I'm sure you can all relate to that feeling. We planned my current stay around the belief that by the time I got back to England in January things would be ready for the rest of the process over there *sigh*

I can definitely relate to that, I took voluntary redundancy thinking I'd be there for New Year's... The NVC rep told me I'd "not be there for summer". The best way of looking at it is that it's just a temporary situation. In a year's time we'll all be laughing.

OP, apologies, I just noted your going for a K1. Still follow the advice around calling USCIS and then NVC, but ignore what I said about the CEAC/DS-261 unless it's applicable to your visa type - I was giving advice assuming it was a CR-1/IR-1 visa type. Again, apologies.

What the hell, so do I call the NVC or USCiS?

Your file seems to have fallen off the grid and could be in either place. It is two separate parts of the government that don't communicate with each other much. USCIS (under Dept of Homeland Security) only approves a petition. They hand off to NVC and Embassy (under Dept of State) for the visa issuance.

I have known several instances where one insists it was sent and the other says it was not received. So call to find out what you can from a Tier 2 person just who has your file. Ask each for dates---date sent out, date received, date sent to embassy if applicable. Your fiancé can contact her US Congressman's office for assistance if you get no clear answer on Monday. I mean don't "wait 30 days for us to get back to you". Ask for the congressional aide who can assist you with immigration help. Make sure they understand you are not bellyaching over slow processing times. They need to specifically ask both NVC and USCIS to find the whereabouts of your physical file and put it back on the grid.

Shipping forecast's process is is different from yours. You just need NVC to get your file to London. Having your new Dept of State case number (LNDxxxxxxxxxxx) will allow you to check status again and know it has reached London.

There is a guide specific to London K1s that you should start reading all the way through. It explains the process from NOA2 to visa in hand London way. There are a few corrections that were added, so read to the end to find those. It will explain checking status, the medical, your forms, etc.

We received our NOA2 on September 10th stating we would receive contact from the NVC within 2-4 weeks to confirm that our case has been forwarded and to give us our case number. Here we are three months later and I am starting to get really worried given the expiration date on the notice is next month. My fianceé, the petitioner, sent an email last month to the NVC to request an update but received no response and I just sent one myself a few minutes ago. Does anyone know what's going on here?

A number of us are in the same boat. Watch for posts from me, Laura, USMSBOW and some others. We all received our NOA2 in September and have yet to have our cases sent to NVC. We are trying to help each other out.

It even suggests in the NOA2 notice that if you have not received the NVC letter within a month to call them, if I remember correctly. I know I have read that recently since I received the NOA2 notice two weeks ago and will wait another 2 weeks, and if I have not received the NVC letter by late December I will call the for sure.

Then call NVC and tell them its been 3 months and you want to talk to a supervisor.

If it were me I would just call NVC first. Call them first thing in the morning 7am eastern standard time. Hopefully chances are they have it and can give u ur case #. Then go right to the website and check ur status

Going through the same thing . . called NVC was told to scan and send the NOA2.. did that 9 days ago called again yesterday was told to wait at least a month before i can call again!! ####### is going on

Okay so I am... Highly confused. My fianceé just got off the phone with a Tier 2 Supervisor at USCIS who told her that the paperwork was indeed sent off on September 10th, but he also told her that if we were to get married right now and file forms i130, i145 and subform g325 I would be able to stay in the US and get a green card? This doesn't sound right to me, at all. It made my fianceé so excited though and I am going to be so insanely pissed off if he mis-informed her.

That is definitely not correct. For a K1 visa, you need to go through a medical and an interview and the country you're from, receive a visa and marry within 90 days of POE. The reps are so freaking misinformed/ignorant/stupid it makes me a little pissy. Sorry

I knew it wasn't. They shouldn't be allowed to pull this , man. This is people's lives they're playing with. If I had taken his advice, gotten married and overstayed while those forms were processing it could have messed up the entire process. The guy has literally devastated the both of us by giving us false hope, ugh. And I'm still no closer to figuring out what happened to our stuff because every time I call the NVC I get a busy tone.
