Must be the global warming thing or something ... They went from being the bread basket of Africa to begging for food. Certainly not a management situation. ... correct.

Of course you're right .

HARARE, Zimbabwe -- As she surveys her small, bare plot in Zimbabwe's capital, farmer Janet Vambe knows something serious is happening, even if she has never heard of climate change.

"Long ago, I could set my calendar with the date the rains started," the 72-year-old said. Nowadays, "we have to gamble with the rains. If you plant early you might lose and if you plant late you might win. We are at a loss of what to do."

Paramu Mafongoya, a University of Zimbabwe agronomist, says Vambe's worries and those of millions of other poor farmers – most of them women – across Africa are a clear sign of the impact of climate change on a continent already struggling to feed itself. Changes have been noted in the timing and the distribution of rainfall on the continent. Zimbabweans say the rainy season has become shorter and more unpredictable, Mafongoya said.

That is an enlightening fact right there.Sounds like black woman are doing all the work over there also.

When I have traveled in the rural areas of China . It is common to see a husband and wife working side by side in the fields. They put in long days of hard work. At times still working behind the water buffalo. The key is both are working to support their families.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. "In China, women constitute about 70 percent of the agricultural labor force and perform more than 70 percent of farm labor...the general pattern is- the poorer the area, the higher women's contribution, largely as subsistence farmers who farm small pieces of land, often less than 0.2 hectares. "

Pretty much the same percentages of women doing the work in Thailand, except the reason is the men are too busy getting drunk 24/7.

There is an analogy

do you think Black women also share a disproportionate amount of the load in the Black community. With an 80% out of wedlock birth rate, who do you think is raising these babies. God Bless black women, cause they are strong
