Yes I was told you can reschedule but only once. If someone can't make it to two different oaths ceremonies they basically have to start over!

Since you have not gotten your letter yet though I am almost certain it will be a little further out :) ...fingers crossed :)

Ok good lawd, imagine starting all over again!! Lol

but just like you are thinking, I haven't got the letter just yet, so if I get it by Monday I would think that they would at least give me a 1 weeks minimum heads up :)

:)

Did you apply for your passport yet?

I believe that the rule is that if you miss your oath ceremony without notifying them that you would like to reschedule, they will automatically reschedule you once. If you miss the ceremony again, then you have to start over.

I don't think the two-ceremony limit applies to cases where you actually return the oath letter and request to be rescheduled.

I actually have not applied for a passport yet, wanted to update my SSN first but have not been able to make the trip downtown just yet. I hope to get this all done in march :)

I can't wait though to get my Passport and I will probably also apply for one of those Passport Cards! Exiting!!

And I think Jimmy is right :) I didn't even think about that, I think you only have to start over if you MISS the ceremony twice. My mind may have been blurry about that detail :)

Ok good lawd, imagine starting all over again!! Lol

Question: What is the updating of your social security number all about? I received my SS # when I got my 2 year green card. What difference does it make if you tell SS government that you are now a citizen? Can someone explain clearly?

Thanks!

My SS card says something along the lines of, valid for employment with authorization. Apologies for not going to dig it out to see for sure. Once you're a citizen you'll get one the same as any other USC I would think.

Still waiting for my interview date here, getting twitchy :) Congrats to new citizens!

From newcitizen.us

Step 5. Report Your Change in Citizenship to the Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration requires any person who has a change in his or her immigration or citizenship status to report that change to the Social Security Administration (see Your Social Security Number And Card ).

Reporting this change is actually to the benefit of you, the new citizen. Why?

  • The social security database will be updated showing you as a US citizen. This database is shared with all federal agencies and many state agencies further validating your US citizenship status with the federal and state governments.
  • With your social security records updated showing you as a US citizen, it will be much easier in the future to apply for and receive all social security benefits entitled to you.
  • If you ever have to replace your social security card, obtaining a new card will be easier now that you are a US citizen.
  • Lastly, in some states, certain disability benefits are only available to US citizens. By changing your citizenship status with the Social Security Administration, you will ensure you receive all disability, retirement, and social security benefits for which you qualify as a US citizen.

You must report the change by completing Form SS-5 and by visiting your local Social Security Administration office in person. The change cannot be done by mail. To find the office nearest you, see Office Locator.

When you visit the Social Security Administration office, you must bring proof of US citizenship such as your Certificate of Naturalization or your US passport and some other form of picture ID such as a driver’s license. You must also bring the completed Form SS-5 or you can just obtain the form there and complete it while you are waiting.

Your will be interviewed by the Social Security Administration office staff. They will verify your citizenship and then update your records. Updating your social security records will not result in a new social security card being issued to you unless there were restrictions on your old card. If you would like a new social security card, make a request for one during your interview with the office staff.

Question: What is the updating of your social security number all about? I received my SS # when I got my 2 year green card. What difference does it make if you tell SS government that you are now a citizen? Can someone explain clearly?

Thanks!

Guys last 48 hours for my interview.. anything you want to share with me that can make the process easier?

begining of the interview i will let officer know about my arrest record that confused me..(because i didnt go to jail--it was about traffic stop because i didnt wear a glass while riding scooter, officer found out that i didnt have motorcycle licence(which i didnt know), he make me sign an arrest record paper, didnt take me to jail, on the court he told me to show new motorcycle licence,, which i did ---got a new licence right away) and case NOLLE PROSSEd.

i will just present them the empty pages(15,16) of n400 form that i made the wrong in my n400 that i submitted. explain them what happened.. i hope nothing will be screwed because of this.

Ce2010, I think you shouldn't just start off by telling the IO about your arrest confusion. Let the IO lead the interview and when you get to the appropriate place to tell the IO this info, then do so.

Of course you want to tell the truth, but less is more! I was stressed out about the traffic ticket part also, I said NO to the question on paper, and IO asked me if I specifically ever got a TRAFFIC ticket, I said yes I received a traffic ticket, she asked when, I said maybe 4-5 years ago. She said OK, and that was that.

Most likely what will happen, when the IO gets to that portion of the N400, they will ask you to explain further, and that when you tell them what you need to tell them.

Exactly :) the main thing is that you tell them the truth. And as long as it's somehere in the interview you're fine! I wouldn't offer it straight up before the IO can confirm you're name and where you live and work lol.

For me it just makes sense to wait till that portion comes up. And if for some reason it doesn't, that's where you can then let the IO know, but jumping in at the beginning might mess up the IO's process and they'll be flapping pages back to front then back again...

We callled USCIS and we got different answers every time. One told uys they r eorking on caes from May 2014, another said we shoukd get our letter this past week, the third one had no clue what we are talking aboyt and what 90 days we are thinking off ... so bottom lind is, we are stuck. The process would not be so frustrating if they gave a bigger time frame but when you see some cases being already approved it in only normal to cause frustration. Its not about thinking our case is special, or being jelous of yhose who already r aplroved or anything like that but the whole process, starting from K1 puts you on stress and hold so many people are just ready to be done with it and not think of intervies tests, or anything else. I for sure am tired of the whole documentation, waiting, stress, waiting, stress... im just ready to be over with, and if it wasnt for this site and all the helpful hints and answers, o can not imagine how it woukd have gone.

The closer people get to the end of this, the more inpatient they become.

I would like if thgey could sent a letter witha date, even if its next year but it would be nice to know.
