You'll receive either a checklist or false checklist email a day later. There is a chance that NVC has already reviewed your AOS package.

You can always find out by calling NVC if you want to find out sooner (or wait for a checklist or false checklist email). Fingers crossed! :star:

Thank you for your kind advice:)! Im now in America with my husband. We will try to call them later.

The status of Aos package on NVC website will change from N/A to completed if our AOS is reveiwed and confirmed?

Sharing more random NVC facts because it's a slow day at work.

Thanks! This is really interesting stuff.

2M calls a year in 2011 = 5500 calls / day = 320 calls / hour of operation at NVC. I bet the majority of these calls wouldn't be made if they just modernized their online portal to include a little more information (i.e. date packages received and date currently being worked on).

They are required to work on an IV petition within 10 business days, heh? Oh boy... :bonk:

I'm the USC petitioner. My wife is British (now a USC!!!), generally awesome, and amazingly patient.

Reading through some of the previous posts, I see people that filed in may 2013 are still stuck at the nvc.I see some got approved at USCIS after well over 6 months The way I see it its really no advantage in being a US citizen and filing for your spouse. I mean its taking well over a year for most of our files to even go to the consulate overseas from the NVC.

Case filed- 3rd June 2013

You can call everyday to see if there's an update. Right now its taking them atleast 60 days to review your documents. For some people on this thread its even more. I also responded to a checklist, which they received on the july 17th. I called yesterday, and pretty much that's all Gus told me is they received it and its waiting to be reviewed. Told me additional info, was nice unlike the others lol.

The contractor RFP gives some interesting insight as to what NVC procedures should be, and some hints as to what they'd like to do in the future, but unfortunately everything is falling well short right now. It bugs me how private NVC is about their procedures (versus USCIS, with manuals published online) so I personally enjoyed the opportunity to read up a little. Also I might be killing time before an early release today

The main document is 139 pages with a lot of potentially interesting information, so if anyone wants to take a look, go here and check the links on the right hand sidebar. Solicitation 1, NVC Power Point Slides, NVC Q&A, and Follow-Up Q&A are the most relevant. These will download if you click rather than opening in your browser.

Well maybe the increase will be used to speed up service??

It would be funny if they slowed down more after the increase!

All they have to say is "Oops, we're getting more applications from USCIS!"

Unfortunately, nobody has the most accurate data to find out if it's actually the case or just another lie.

Can anyone confirm that this would actually be the "scan date" so I don't have to call?

"The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on 28AUG14.

We are currently receiving an increased number of approved petitions from U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services. As a result, we are experiencing increased review times for documents
received.
We expect it will be at least 60 days from the date we received your mail before we complete the
review of your documents. We will notify you when we review your documents.
We are working to reduce these processing times and we appreciate your patience."

Hey Jeff (and all, its been awhile since my last post!) I had already confirmed my scan dates by phone when I got the 60 day email. In my case, the date in my 60 day email was when the packages actually arrived at NVC (per USPS tracking), as opposed to the day I was told by an operator that they were scanned in. So for example, my email says they received my AOS on July 15th, but the scanned date is July 17th according to NVC. Hope that isn't just adding more confusion...

That's for a CC. If you get a CC, the AOS section on the CEAC site changes from "PAID" to "N/A".

Since you have sent your IV package last week, you probably don't see this change at least until early Oct. :clock:

30 business days since the DS-261 today... Not that that means anything anymore! I did send the IV package yesterday and FedEx showed it was delivered today at 10:14 EST. I'll call Tuesday and see if it's been scanned yet ( a girl can hope!). I thought that I would feel a little relieved after having sent the last package (hopefully!) off, but I don't. I have so much nervous energy it's ridiculous!

Thanks again to everyone for always being here!!! Good luck everyone and if you can, try to enjoy the weekend (I have to work)!

Oh, and Sharkbelow, I bet your package stopped off in Fiji. That's what I would do. Little rascal! I'm so glad it was found!!! What an awful feeling that ust have been!

We received the notice from NVC with the case # and other details but the Benificteries name appears like this < Full name, FNU, > My first name is shown as FNU and the surname Field shows my Full name. Its because on my indian passport , the field for surname is empty .

I was told about this issue earlier by a friend , so I got my passport reissued with proper break up of the name . Surname & given names filled in appropriately. Now i would like to know how can i Update the same in my Immigration docs so that FNU is removed from my name
