NVC Filers - August 2014

NVC received our civil document package on July 8th. I spoke with a knucklehead at NVC yesterday and was told that it would take 60 days or more to review my documents. I asked what was there process. He said that files are worked randomly. I was like hell naw. I have been in touch with Senator Barbara Miluski's office for a while and was told to fill out paperwork to give them permission to help me with my case. I faxed them the docs yesterday. I pray they can help. I am getting this process done now.

unfortunately the Senator's office can't make the NVC route though the mail and search for your packages. If there is mail showing in the system for your case, you will have to wait in line like everyone else. They process the mail by the date it was received. They receive 1000's of pieces of mail a day.

Not sure what to tell you, is your wife your Sponsor? Do you have a co-sponsor? If so then your wife and the co-sponsor would be the answer. Someone MoBar anyone correct me if I'm wrong. I think we need a little more information, at least I do. :D

If this trivial question stumped him then I'm afraid he's in for a rough interview. Someone needs to sit him down and coach him before the interview. He'll pass the 20-month mark if he doesn't shape up.

Has anybody else received a checklist for the marriage certificate (although they did sent the right one) right before they were supposed to get a CC?

was just reading this on another forum......

Laurel Scott Chat Log 8/6/2014

Laurel: Good morning everyone.

Laurel: The big update at the moment is that the
NVC
is finally admitting that it is overwhelmed. The agency is now sending notices to everyone stating that their response time is 60 days from the date they receive any document, inquiry, or form. While this newly announced response time is frustrating, it hopefully indicates that the
NVC
will be more careful about reviewing files before sending requests for evidence (
RFE
). The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) is in the midst of putting together an assessment of attorney complaints regarding the
NVC
.
The
NVC
has had a long history of sending RFEs for documents that were already submitted and do not describe what, if any, problem there was with the already-submitted documents, BUT recently the frequency with which this occurs has skyrocketted. AILA does not put together assessments of attorney complaints unless there is a spike in problems, so AILA's actions indicate unusual, widespread problems at the
NVC
.

Laurel: The best advice for people going through
NVC
processing is to expect for it to take several months and not to be surprised if you get an
RFE
for a document that was already submitted. In the past
NVC
processing would normally take one to three months. You should now expect for it to take three to seven months. This may present problems for people from countries that require a police certificate as it is possible that your police certificate will expire while your case is pending at the
NVC
and you will have to get another

They spelled wife's name wrong :ranting: Just emailed at NVCInquiry with passport copy and marriage certificate to fix the typo, and of course according to them its gonna be 60 days :(

Did you receive an email from nvc?

It will take 2-4Months from now to get the Police Report Certificate for Malaysia, Is this something that she can bring to the Interview, Because if she files it now, we might not getting till Dec. I'm expecting IV/DS260 by mid Sept.

Not sure if you were answered, but all I've read/heard is the certificates MUST be sent to NVC for review first.

I am in Malaysia, and the certificate took far less time than anticipated. That may differ for applicants out of the country. Ours was ready about 3 weeks after submitting a request online.

Can yourself or someone please provide clarification on the wording in the sample cover letter Saylin has in her wiki for the IV Package? It says,

"

  • Certified copy of the birth certificate of beneficiary

  • Certified copy of the marriage certificate

  • Original police clearance certificate

Scanned copies of documents submitted are exact copies of unaltered documents and I understand that I will be required to submit original documents to an Immigration or Consular officer at the interview."

I took "scanned copies" to mean copies of the certified or original would be acceptable. Am I wrong in how I'm reading this?

if your case is an electronic processing then u need to send the scanned copy by mail and bring the original at interview otherwise you must submit the originals to NVC along with IV coversheet.Normally we are getting certified copies of Birth/Marriage certificate from Civil authority as the original birth/marriage register is available at concerned civil authority and they normally issued the certified copy of it.Pls not that NVC will not accept photocopy/Notarized copy. They will accept Original or certified copy.

We all want our spouses here. This process causes everyone alot of stress. Weight gain, weight loss, stress, anxiety.. you name it, we all have it ...

my 83 year old mother has been in the hospital for 2 weeks with drug resistant E coli in her blood. Its touch and go. She is attached to an IV pole.

I got laid off on July 1st... Unemployment doesn't even cover my mortgage. I submitted an expedite for the waiver I just filed.... I doubt it will get approved. I need my husband here. we have been apart for just about 3 years.

we all need our spouses. You are not the only one

how is this for stressful??

Your I-130 was approved in 340 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 459 days from your I-130 NOA1 date.
