Hi everyone.

Im just wondering what does priority date means?my priority date is june 19,2014,same as the date when they recieved our file.

For cases that have no numerical limitations (which include spouses of US Citizens), all the Priority Date is the date the file is officially received at USCIS and enters the queue awaiting adjudication.

Priority Date is more significant in visa cases that have numerical limitations.

Our priority date was June 25 (though it says it was received June 26--kinda weird) and we just got the NOA2 in the mail today (July 23)! I thought it was going to be so much longer that I hadn't even started checking for progress online yet. Our official approval date was July 11th. 16 day turnover--wow! So much better than five months! We're both living outside of the States, so we got transferred to the California service center.

Priority date is like when your file has gone into the process of other filers. Example if you call them to ask about your case they would look your approval up by priority date because they don't tell you anything unless you are out of the processing times.

We got our NOA2 (snail mail) today. Last week my husband called USCIS and requested to expedite our case for Humanitarian reason. Our lawyer got a letter it was denied but then when i checked our case status after 7 days,it says its on POST DECISION ACTIVITY and its approved July 22. We just got the approval letter in mail today. :)

Our case was routed to Vermont. My husband requested to expedite our case under Humanitarian reason. It was cus of the typhoon glenda. He called during the typhoon and he sent some news clips that my hometown (where im currently living right now) is under signal number 3. Well its our 2nd time to request to be expedited. The first one was in june but they ddenied. You can choose from this criteria if you want to request:

Expedite Criteria

All expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and are granted at the discretion of the Director. The burden is on the applicant or petitioner to demonstrate that one or more of the expedite criteria have been met. The criteria are as follows:

Severe financial loss to company or individual

Extreme emergent situation

Humanitarian situation

Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States

Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)

USCIS error

Compelling interest of USCIS
