Do you guys think I should go ahead and get a copy of the letter from the IRS confirming extension on filing from sponsor in the mail, or wait for the supervisor review to confirm whether it's needed? Any chance that that would be something we could take to the interview given I satisfied the assets requirement anyway?

I'm home alone tonight and can't switch the brain off...

Can you confirm with your joint sponsor whether the extension documentation was included in their package?

Because of a big problem with our joint sponsor paperwork, we will be delayed by a week and a half in sending our AOS package. Better to get it right the first time than incur a checklist, but it's disappointing.

I wish we didn't need a joint sponsor, but I am abroad and my income source will not continue in the US.

I hope you're all having a less frustrating day than I am!

I think your tax returns have to reflect the name your social security is under. It confuses them if you put your married name, and trying to match them up.

My wife wasn't required to file for the year 2012, because she was migrating and thus had no income and was a student. She just wrote a note in the cover letter and a continuation page that she was not required to file for a tax return due to not making no income that year. They accepted it. No problem. She didn't check the box, because it says if you filed for each of the three most recent tax years, which she didn't file one year.

Yes.

so basicly what you are saying is... just write a letter that my wife wasnt required to file taxes because she had no income the past years and is living in another country , rather then send the Non-Filing letters

with the wrong last name on the letters ??

You need to have a lawyer attached to your case BEFORE the NVC stage, otherwise they obviously can't be automatically selected as agent when they input your case. Hence why you had to fill out a DS-261, since you had no legal representation already.

Thanks Saylin :) Yes I know and it makes sense. But she submitted a G28 and requested to unlock the IV fee for us. Or at least she was supposed to do that :P

Can you confirm with your joint sponsor whether the extension documentation was included in their package?

I just spoke to my uncle (who could hear me just fine, unlike Arthur!) who said he didn't have a letter from the IRS, but that he had included a letter from his accountant explaining why he hadn't filed (his firm was going through a merger) and that they had applied for and been automatically approved for an extension. Apparently your first extension request is auto-approved in this sort of situation? So he is going to follow up with his accountant and see if they can get something from the IRS.

Ironically, his accountant is just about finished preparing his 2013 returns and it turns out he overpaid taxes in 2013...

You should be fine, as long as the writing was legible :)

There is no way the officers are working OT & weekends. First, they're government workers lol Second, if they were, the time frame would be speeding up. They're still holding strong at taking 30 days to review.

They're contracted paper pushers, not actual gov't employees. I doubt OT for them is anything like what a legitimate government employee would get. They're probably getting time and a half on like $10/hr or something. It does seem really unlikely that actual OT is occurring, though. It seemed plausible last time they started the backlog spiel because processing times were brought back in line within a few weeks. This time it's just dragging on :( Doesn't seem like they're getting back on track at all.

From some immigration website:

"The NVC is operated by a private contractor with more than 400 employees. The Department of State has five supervisory employees who work there. The FBI has one employee assigned to the NVC."

86 days now, JUST updated ;) And hey, it's very possible!

More :ot: , are you getting hit with non-stop rain in Fargo? We're having flash floods at the moment. I think I'll need to swim to work tomorrow!

Sooooo :sleepy:

The NVC today, 19th of June, has reached cases scanned on the 20th of May

On the 13th of June, a nice woman told me that the NVC is working on the 12th of May scanned cases (on the hush hush side) :secret:

That means in 6 calendar days the NVC finished worth 8 days of scanned cases/packages

A rate of 1.3 days of scanned packages every calendar day

My case was scanned on the 2nd of June. :sleepy:

That means I have 12 more days of scanned packages

If they continue with the same rate

They will reach my case date in 9 days from today :luv:

Did any one get case complete lately to complete this "WILD HYPOTHESIS" :content:

Anyway ... Lets wait and see :clock:

Yep, I've read the article those figures come from, there's literally just this tiny handful of actual government employees among the hundreds from Serco. Really gives you confidence in the whole process huh? -_-
