Once you get this all straightened out, everything will be all right. Congratulations on finding out the problem!

Lol. Yeah! Thank you. I just hope this could be fixed soon. Infopass schedule is in June.

It really does expose the inacuracies between systems .

That is nice to know. What makes me wonder is how can the information in the e-verify has my incomplete name but SSA has it right. I even went to the local ssa office to correct my name last month since they got my name incorrectly on the first ss card i received. They had to verify it to the DHS and got my replacement card with the correct name. It's just crazy and really frustrating. I have to call too many people and redirect me to different dept. Even applying a bank account is hassle since they could not verify me.

Yeah, I just called DHS today and was told that they employer should have let me be on training while they are checking and submit case for the mismatch but for some reason DHS does not see any case that was submitted for me and was asked to call the 3rd party company to ask for the case number which they don't have and passed me around people who does not give any information.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok, This is an update. I just received the hard copy of the result on my background check and I got alert on Address history and Identity check, which was searched by my name and ssn and came back UNABLE TO VALIDATE and UNAVAILABLE,(due to my name discrepancy) and no address history, and another alerts on my Education and Employment which have messages PLEASE CONTACT VERICON FOR AUTHORIZATION TO VERIFY INTERNATIONAL INFORMATION AND PRICING. Does this mean I have to pay for international verification? I won't pursue this job but I don't want this to happen on my next job offer (hope to get it tomorrow)(fingers crossed). I brought my original diploma, transcripts and related certificates and have copies authenticated by the Dept of Foreign Affairs in the PH. I also have my original certificate of employments from my previous jobs except for the most recent since it is still process.

Any idea what is the best thing to do? :(

Thank you so much guys!

Holy mackerel. Get the name thing straightened out, first. Do not leave your InfoPass appointment until you get direct or solid referral help from them: whom to speak with, whom to contact for follow-up, etc. If the first agent can't help you, insist on speaking with the shift supervisor. I think that they should be the ones making the calls on your behalf, in your presence.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Yeah they should be the one.. :( But i guess they just don't do it. My appointment will be next week so hopefully I can get it fix that day. I just get frustrated when i already got the job then will just be taken back and it's not my fault.

Hi guys! I got a new update. I got a new job offer with good pay and benefits but they will use another 3rd party company for background check. It is Sterling. Do anyone from here can share their experience with Sterling background check?

So, I just signed a bunch of agreements, the I-9 form for the employer and Sterling ( the third party background check company). I feel like I will have a better luck with this company that they won't just let me go for one incorrect info.

Do you guys think I am right that this is a good new for me?

Sounds good to me. A company that really wants you would do further checks instead of just saying bye.

It would be good if this is a better job than the other ones, sort of make the problem worth it in the end. :)

Ok, Background check has started and they will now start calling my previous employers in the PH. One thing I am worried about is I omitted one of my employments on my resume and on the background check e-invite. It is not because I was fired or forced resigned, but because I just stayed with them for less than 2 months. This employer was also my first ever employer. ( I was just rehired) I didn't render 30 days notice when I quit the second time but I was cleared and everything is ok though It says on my certificate of employment that I didn't render 30 days.

My questions are,

1. When Sterling back check calls them and finds out that I was hired twice but just mentioned once, will that affect my employment?

2. Do you happen to know what they ask the previous employer when they do background check?

Thank you so much!

Not a problem. You do not need to put every employer on your resume. It is a resume, or a summary of your work, not all work forever.

They usually just call to confirm if the person really worked there and had the job they said.

As far as the 30 days thing, that must be a PI rule, and no one here is going to care or even know what it is. It is standard to give at least 2 weeks notice here, but most people don't work on contracts like elsewhere. They won't ask about that, and no one will ask to see a "certificate of employment" because we don't have that.

Thanks Harpa! That is a relief! It was my second most recent employment though that was on July 2012 - Sept 2012 and on the e-invite for the background check I put those dates as unemployed.

I just really hope everything goes well starting this month. It is such a good job with great benefits.

Oh, well you shouldn't lie on forms like that. The US does not like lying, even white lies. It probably won't be a problem, but that is a good habit to break.

Good luck.
