our IV and AOS packages were received on FIrday. Miss Nasty Pants Joy said I need to wait 30 days for them to review. I think JOY just enjoys saying "wait 30 days". She assumes everyone is dumb and doesn't know the NVC process...

I hope to hear something soon. I can't wait to get back to the time when I actually enjoyed the weekends and Holidays... I dread the holiday this Friday. Its just another lost day to me.

you know when I was waiting on my case number, they said wait 30 days.... then I call after 30 days they said 30 "Business days."

I read the wiki (Thanks Saylin) many times and I kind of have a good idea on the process.

My question is: I got my case # and IIN on 10-Apr-2014. How long do Ihave to wait for DS261 and AoS fees to be available? I can't see Saylin's spreadsheet at work.

just called NVC asking if they already accepted our AOS checklist, and the representative answered me "well I think so ma'am coz you already have your case complete as of 4/11. LOL made me smile and forgot to ask about our son's case. im on hold again with them LOL. thank you GOD

My DS-261 took a week from getting case number, and AOS fee was invoiced a couple of days later. It seems like it might be moving a little more quickly now though, you should have one or both of those things this week.

Just spoke to JOY at the NVC.. She either needs a new line of work or another cup of coffee. She is not a happy girl today.

She told me it takes 30 days to review the DS260 and another 30 days to review the IV and AOS packages. ( full of ####### )

and she did not understand what I was asking. She just kept saying I cannot submit another DS260.. And I kept saying that is not what I asked and I don't want to submit another one... OMG thick headed woman.. I explained that my lawyer did not sign the AOS package, she said they will not hold up my package for that. My signature is the one they need. and if I suspect a mistake on the income, she suggests I wait for a checklist and she would not send in a correction unless asked for one.

SO, I have to beg my lawyer to verify the amount he used on the package. I know the original package they sent to me is definitely incorrect. I just need to find out what they actually sent. Getting a reply from this lawyer is worse than pulling teeth. I still want to know what I paid him for.

Joy is never a happy one. And she'll always tell you it takes about 30 days to review.

NVC mentioned that in IV pkg. one should send - Original or Certified Copy of marriage certificate and benificiary birth certificate.

I will get them certified from attorney in India and gona send these pkg from India. Do my husband need to get them again certified from US Gov?

Hi alvictor,

I am not 100% certain but I think you can only get certified copies from the original issuing authority i.e. you will have to go the Municipal office that registered your birth and marriage and obtain certified (another issue of the birth and marriage certificates) copies. It is not just a photocopy that is notorized or attested by an attorney.

I had a certified copy of my birth certificate from India (issued by BMC-Mumbai back in 1979) and my certified marriage certificate is from the US (also issued by the original issuing authority).

Can someone from India who has been through this please correct me if I am wrong?
