Hi everyone. I just joined the site and am looking at applying for the K1 visa for my fiance. We have been together for almost 8 months now. We have met once in person for a 10 day vacation in Vancouver. I am 29 and she is 22 and neither of us have any kids or have ever been married before. She is from Argentina. We have lots of photos from the trip our boarding passes and itineraries for the hotel. Do you think we would have a good chance of being approved and passing the interview?

Yes, I do. As long as you also can fulfill the financial requirements. Lots of guides to study up on here. Good luck!

Hi everyone. I have been with my fiance for almost 8 months now and we got engaged when we met for the first time in Vancouver for a 10 day vacation because they wouldn't give her a tourist visa to come to the US. We have lots of pictures, our boarding passes and hotel itinerary. We write and message on facebook everyday. I'm in the US Navy and shouldn't have any problem showing ability to support her. Neither of us have kids or have been married before and I am 29 and she is 22. Do you think we would have a good chance to get approved for the fiance visa? Or do we need more time together? Thanks for your help.

I don't see why not. The fact that she was denied a tourist visa shouldn't affect a K1 visa. Your timeline might be a little short, but you've met within the last two years which is the only real requirement, and you have the evidence to back that up. I don't think Argentina is a high fraud country, so there shouldn't be an exceptional burden of proof to show you're in a bona fide relationship.

What works against you is the fact that you only met once for 10 days, and were engaged on that visit. Talking on the internet doesn't mean much, spending time together in real life is what you need more of. Good luck!!!

Yes...if your intentions are to marry and stay together in the US. Your evidence should be able to convince a total stranger (the Embassy CO) that you are legitimate.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Roger. You shouldn't have any problems with that. However, check with your Admin section before filling in the application. I believe all Active Duty Service Members require a permission memorandum from your CO. If your CO is not there, someone who has signature authority should be able to make one for you.

(Signature Authority) - Someone who is designated as secondary and has been given permission to exercise the Commander's signature on all matters requiring a signature to which only the Commander or higher can sign.
