I am devastated guys. Its like a dream to me. I came into lagos 2days for the interview. Stayed with my friend residing in lekki area of lagos. I was scheduled for a 7am interview. Left the house around 5.45am only to hit the heartbreaking traffic. Got to the embassy around 7.10am and I wasn't allowed in. I was to send an email to embassy for a reschedule.Honestly I cannot guaranty that I'd be able to extract another day off from work to attend another interview. Any clue on how long its going to take to get another date?

If you can't make time for the visa, how else will you get it? Next time, leave earlier or find a place much closer to the embassy.

Good luck.

I don't know how it goes there in Nigeria, but in Manila, they are more lenient..

If we miss our interview, it is very easy to reschedule for as long as it is the first time we are rescheduling..

Though I agree with apple21.. next time leave an hour earlier than you left the first time..

Good luck!

You need to back to the embassy and plead with them, do not leave until they either give you another date that is very soon or see you. Stay there until you speak with someone. My fiancé was late to his interview yesterday 11/25 and after reading online and talking to some friends I made him stay and plead. He got in line several times after only to be thrown out twice. But after a while the security guard told him to wait under he tree. He waited and was let in and got approved for his visa. Stay and plead, don't be rude, tell them you already have wedding plans. Don't leave and please don't wait for an email response. If I were you I would go back up there and just plead until they see you.

I don't see how you could leave so little time to travel for such an important day. The drive to the embassy is known for go slows. If March is the next date make sure to request the extend the validity of the approval

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Interview rescheduling can take upwards of months.

Only leaving yourself an hour and 15 minutes to make it to an interview? I would have left at least twice that even if I were only half an hour away.

Lagos is apparently very strict and you should have prepared for that.

I know someone who did the same thing. He left his house in in Ketu and thought he was having enough time to get there, but ended up a few mins late. They would not let him in. He waited til someone came to tell him what to do, which was not til approx. 1pm before someone would even speak to him. He was given another date that was one month away. He was given this date the day he was there when they spoke with him at 1pm. Im not sure why they didn't do the same with you.

I recall our interview date a few years back in Bogota, Colombia, we gave ourselves enough time that if NEEDED we could walk it in 2.5 hours.

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Embassy/Consulate forum -- topic involves that phase. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
