Does AP typically end with approval

I know that being put in AP means unknown delay time while they go through whatever checks they do. But can anybody give me an idea if these typically end in the person getting their visa? We have been in AP since Oct. 30.

My fiance was not given an approved or denied at interview. Just a request to return a missing document. Just trying to understand what I'm dealing with. Thank you!

No, AP can end up on an approval or denial. No one here can predict the result and there is no norm. Each case is unique.

They did request his passport at the time he returned the missing document. But since then when we inquired with the embassy they said the case required additional processing which could take 2 weeks to 6 months. I checked the portal but found no other cases of AP. So thats why I'm concerned. Thank you.

My fiancée had her interview 11/12. We were missing a certified divorce document, so we were put in AP. I sent document via DHL and it arrived 11/15 to US embassy. My fiancée called US embassy today and they said she could pick up visa this week.

I don't think you are in AP, you are only missing certain documents.

Once you send in those documents, I hope you are good to go. Since they took his passport, it is also a good sign!!

Stay positive! good.gif

The majority of AP ends with an approval, but there is no way to predict the outcome one way or another. Try to be patient, just continue to live life as normally as possible, sitting around obsessing about it will just stress you out. Trust me my-husband endured AP, the best thing we did was not let it drive us crazy. We continued with life as usual because we knew if we didn't the process would drive us insane. Good luck, hopefully it will be over soon.

Actually, the norm is for a visa to be issued after AP, rarely have we seen people denied after AP. If the embassy is going to deny someone usually it is at the interview, not after AP. AP is for further background checks, whether it be internal or at the Washington DC level. If you read the threads here the vast majority of people get through AP with an approval.

Thank you. But he delivered the missing document on Oct 30. Since then they told us we were in ap. Still.....praying it will be resolved quickly.

If they have the passport, then all signs are good (no guarantees of course).

All you can do is wait.

Thank you! This makes me feel so much better.

I am trying not to obsess, but its so hard. Just knowing that majority of AP end with approval makes me feel alot better. I've been sitting here wondering how on earth I would manage a life without my love.
