When can visa be given?

When I and my fiance' were going through the k-1 process, eventually she was given a visa after a successful interview in the embassy in kiev. Her passport with the visa stamped inside was delivered to her apartment about a week later. Now that we are going through the cr-1/ir -1 process, when she goes to her interview several months down the road, can her visa be given to her the same day or will it be required to be delivered in the same way as her k-1?I ask because I would like to be able to attend the interview and have her fly back with me immediately after the interview. You can expect the same visa delivery as before. I've never heard of anyone being given the visa on the same day as the interview.

Visa issued same day? No If not whats the waiting period? 7 to 10 working days. It is mailed through TNT. You must arrange for TNT to deliver to any of their offices near you in advance at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ua/ when scheduling your interview. TNT does not deliver to the recipient, but only to their offices. You must then go pick it up from them. There is no extra charge for the delivery.

In Ukraine they are not delivered same day (Italy however it was given the same day, so everything is consulate dependent) ...

Ok got it! I did a search for the same information and found similar answers but I just thought immigration visas might be handled a bit differently. The wording on the state department website can be a bit misleading. "If you are issued an immigrant visa, the consular officer will give you your passport containing the immigrant visa and a sealed packet". This was copied and pasted from the state department website in the faq area of immigrant visa section. Thanks VisaJourney members, you're the best!

Well, keep in mind that the general time period for getting from the Kiev embassy to the Kiev TNT is 2 days and you can pick it up on the third. Using that standard we timed our K-1 interview this month for a Monday and the visa was there on Wed. We did get it that day but only because we raised hell about it being in so we should get it. TNT gets delivery at 5PM every day and supposedly they want an extra day for processing.

So the quickest you can do it would be sending it to the Kiev TNT and do some sightseeing for 3 days. YMMV and nothing is written in stone but it worked for me and has for others.

As with all real couples, we had some bumps along the way. My signature mentions it briefly. We got married here in Missouri, you can likely figure out the rest without me spilling my guts, which is exactly what this particular topic is not about. But we have seen the light!

I am liking the idea of either going to TNT after the interview, or waiting for the visa/passport to be delivered to her flat. We checked delivery time from kiev to her city and the estimated 3days. So, this option is possible. Thanks guys and gals! Ya gotta love VisaJourney!
