Quick question for those august filers that have received your NOA 2, did any one you guys use a lawyer or did ye fill the paper work out yourselfs?

we did use lawyer just in case to avoid any RFE

the lawyers know everything in details and it is impossible to miss any document

they know what kind of documents we need to send you will be just in peace knowing you did not miss any docs

Hmmm, looks like we will be affected but hopefully, nothing major and just for a very short period of time :(

We got our NOA1 on August 8th from the Texas office and asked for more evidence - it was submitted and received September 18th. We have heard nothing since. With the government shut down I am worried that things will be horribly delayed :(

What I've read has been somewhat conflicting. USCIS will continue to function because they are fee based. The NVC should continue to operate because most of the office workers are contractors and their contract had funds obligated already. For example, I am a government contractor and our contract was fully funded prior to the shutdown, so I'm working today but our government officers are not.

As for embassies and consulates, I've heard some conflicting reports. Some sources say that the DoS will reduce services at foreign posts to emergency services for American citizens. Others have stated that visa processing will continue for immigrant visas such as our own. It's likely that things will back up at embassies because of somewhat reduced staffing.

Copied from CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2013/09/politics/government-shutdown-impact/index.html?hpt=hp_t3)

Open/Mostly open Department of State Consular operations will continue if the government shuts down, which means that people would be able to get visas and passports. However, there is an exception is for passport offices that are located in buildings that are otherwise shutdown, so some people may see delays in their applications. Travel plans for State Department personnel will mostly be put on hold, as will all new employment offers. The State Department has not released exact numbers of furloughs, but in previous shutdowns, furloughs were felt more heavily at the department's headquarters in Washington than at posts overseas. The State Department contingency plan did not list the total or furloughed number of employees at the department.

Does anybody know if there will be a delay with the visas with the government shutdown?

I was wondering the same thing as well....especially concerning about NVC. I would say USCIS itself won't be much affected since it's fee based, but it will be affected if the visa has to relay on some other federal offices.
