I just thought that I would let everyone know because I've been cruising this site for about six months that I will be withdrawing the petition. It's hard to know if someone is who you think they are when you spend almost a year apart and in this case it didn't work out. Anyone have any suggestions on how to cancel?? I might wait a little bit afterall, I had to wait since July to get to this point, the visa interview was supposed to be Dec. 6, kind of sad but better now later I think. This site is great support for this stressful journey.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes. Call the embassy and notify the uscis of your intent to withdraw the petition. The later is probably not required but cover your bases in case you come back another time. good luck.

How sad, the OP must not be feeling too well right now and you want to know what happened, shame on you. To the OP: you do not have to let everyone know what happened, best of luck in the decision you chose to make. Think about it this way: it was better to find out NOW rather than have your fiance enter the U.S., get married, and then find out how they really are. Good luck

Sorry to hear things have not worked out :( This is what you need to do to cancel your application:

Write a letter to whomever has your paperwork now (in this case the Embassy) Make sure you put your file number and name of recipient. Explain to them you are "withdrawing" your support and petition for this individual (no need to explain why). Add a small paragraph stating you are attaching a photocopy of your ID page of your passport as proof of your identity. NOTORIZE this letter and fax it directly to the Embassy/consulate visa section that handles the K1 visas. Keep a copy of the notorized letter for your records.

In due time they will return your application to USCIS for further review and eventually you may receive a note from them stating your file is being reviewed for further action, or when the application expires you will get notice that your file has expired and been closed. Could take up to a year to get a notice but makes not difference. Your application is basically dead when you fax your letter. Good luck

I can explain what happened, I'm not feeling happy about it but I'll make it fine, I've lived through worse. After almost a year of assuring me that he wanted to come, he informed me a couple of days ago that he had a pregnant girlfriend who he's very happy with?? Funny, because a couple days before that, he was finishing his paperwork and physical for the interview that was scheduled for Dec. 6. However, in whatever the situation is, he has not been honest with me and that's really all I need to know. Being apart for a long time, anything can happen.

Send an email to the U.S. embassy in his country. Look for the visa control section and write directly to them. Include your case number, identify all of the individuals involved and that you as the U.S. citizen/resident have decided to withdraw your application for fiance (K-1) visa. Provide any details you feel necessary in the letter but most of all, be very specific as to which case it is. They will pull the case and return it to the USCIS center that has juridiction over your case. That should close the case, but request a response from the embassy about what actions their took.

Sorry this happened to you. Once you lose trust, it is nearly impossible to rebuild it. You did the right thing.

I fee so sorry for you. It has nothing to be with the time you spend apart. If he truly loved you, then he would not have been selfish. Hope you find someone special that will truly love you.

I think I was late filing for AOS:

07/27/07: Mailed AOS papers to Chicago mailbox.

08/02/07: AOS papers received in Chicago.

Well at least you can be thankful you found out before you married him. Now you can move on and find someone better. I know of a case where a foreign fiancee of a man in the US went back with a former boyfriend in her country, got pregnant, and had an abortion one week before coming to the US. Now that's scary.

Lennon, I'm sorry to hear about your withdraw of your petition. Can I offer a little advice before you do? I have known my soon to-be wife for about a year and a half. I admit that I have never met anyone that treats me as well as she does. I have visited her 3 times for 3-4 week durations, and I'm leaving again next month. She is in The Philippines and we do have communication issues at times. I do admit that I tend to run short on patients at times. I try to remember that she wasn't raised the same as we Americans and have a little different way of communicating. We've had arguments on-line and in person over some really silly issues. Usually, once I get myself to calm down and slow down the pace some, so she is able to say the correct words and/or phrases. A lot of times she would say something and I would take it as an insult immediately. Once I began to listen and let her talk more, she then would tell me in a different way so I could understand her better, and then I would know that she never intended to be malicious in any way. Since I met Emma, I have taught myself to be a little more understanding and realize that she wasn't brought up the same way as I was. In 95% of all the arguments and misunderstandings we had, it was all due to our lack of communication. Once she gets here in California, we plan to attend counseling. Also, she wants to take English as a second language courses offered at our local college which are free at charge too. I just want to tell you by my own experience, anything that's important to is well worth the time to correct any misunderstanding or communication issue that may occur. I hope everything works out for the best for you and her. Just think.. If you love her, you'll try harder.. That's what i always tell myself.. Sincerely, Robert

Did you even read what she wrote before you decided to give advice? Do you think her fiancé impregnating another woman was a communication issue? Or a "silly issue"?

*ps sorry if that was too rude.
