You are VERY lucky you weren't flat out denied, I have never seen anyone approved after not sending in any documents. They gave you the opportunity to submit your documents, so thank your lucky stars you didn't have to start all over again. You also need to submit supporting evidence of your relationship, there are examples of what you can submit in the guides at the top of the page here. I would gather up what you have, make an info pass appointment and drop off your evidence, just make sure you submit copies and keep the originals. I also suggest you read and study the guides for the remainder of the steps in the process. And as others suggested, it is very highly advised you attend the interview with your spouse in the Dominican Republic. Best of luck on the rest of your journey!!!

Does the USCIS now have everything they need or do you still need to give them items? If you do I suggest making an INFOPASS appointment and making sure they have photocopies of everything in the instructions and also of any relationship evidence you have. I agree with Dwheels that you were lucky not to be out your money and denied. I wish you'd found us earlier!

But at least you were able to submit items after the fact. I hope it goes smoother for you from now on. smile.png

Yes. They have everything they need now. Thanks.

I send the same month with you in February but no news, nobody contact to me yet.

I am happy for you that at least they touch your case so they will be in touch with you soon. Wait for a good news mellow.png

there is no telling how long it will take for them at this point. They missed the entire first step, so the waiting could still be months for a decision.

Thank you. After hearing everyone's comments, I do feel fortunate. And I do plan to be there in the DR for my wife's appointment.

The relative adoption 1-130 petition my wife and I sent in for our son in the Philippines to about 90 days. The uscis received our petition on December 20 and we received our approval notice on March 18. Best of luck.

The crazy bit is that 'information from the source' is scattered in several different government websites.

Loto has consolidated the info, from start to finish - have a read?

Same to you. Appreciate the feedback.

Awesome stuff. I've spent the entire day educating myself on this process. I do not want any further delays. Thank you!

Hello everyone, despite my mistakes, I believe that God remains with me. It appears that my I-130 application was finally approved. See below.

On August 19, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State.

So, this appears to be really good news, right? So, what are the next steps? I haven't received anything in the mail yet and I've been checking everyday. :) Maybe tomorrow will be the day. :) I'm so excited.

Can anyone provide any estimates as to how long the rest of the process can take?

And once again, thank God! :)

Dude you missed the main part, Along with your I-130 application you were

supposed to send in supporting documents like pictures of you and your wife

together to show that you have a genuine relationship along with any cards

or letters you may have received from each other and also phone and chat

records those things are very important to getting your case approved because

when you send it in they will look at all of those things. I almost forgot something

you also need 5 affidavits from you and your wives friends and family that know

of your relationship and they must be signed. Hope this helps

Affidavits are not required if you have other solid evidences. Affidavits carry less weight. There are many cases where only marriage certificate and a joint account was submitted and the case was approved.

Paul, I know I messed up initially but let's move past that; I was APPROVED.

Now I'm just getting ready for the next step which is the NVC process, correct? I called them last night and my case number hasn't yet reached them. I will continue to try everyday.

Does anyone know how long it takes for my case number to reach NVC after approved by USCIS?

It can take up to 90 days... but I started calling after 1 week, every other or every third day. Normally it takes 1-4 weeks.

Petitioner can use google voice to call so it's free vs long distance.
