Update on my wife's case... It changed from "accepted" to "optimized" since the last time i checked (a couple of days ago...)

So ... now i am trying to check "status" on the USCIS site but the case receipt number doesnt show anything - perhaps the status hasnt propagated over to the main site yet?

I guess i use the number beginning with "IOE" ?

Curious as we had already planned on going to the SSA office to apply for the SSN as its been 4 weeks today since POE and no card.

No other mailings received about the GC either.

EDIT: It seems the case received date was July 22 2013, which is 7 days after POE and the case status date is Aug 8 2013

I never could check the status on the USCIS site, just the ELIS site. You should get the "closed - card produced" in the next week or two max I think!

My status changed to closed on 8 Aug & received cards in mail yesterday (12 Aug). 29 Days after POE.

I also received a 10 year green card although it does say CR1 on the front.

well, heres something interesting and good for this morning smile.png

Checked the ELIS site - no update from yesterday...still states "in process"

went to the USCIS site and entered the case number from the IV fee receipt when we paid the 165USD.

and... the site now shows a status of

"The USPS reported that your new card was delivered on August 12, 2013, directly to the address we had on file. The USPS tracking number assigned was xxxxxxxxx. You can use this number at www.usps.com to view the detailed tracking information recorded by USPS for the mailed card. If you did not receive your card, or have any questions, please call our customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

So, now i will need to check mail later on today and see if the card did actually arrive! smile.png

Went to the SSA office yesterday - no problems applying - spent an hour waiting and 5 minutes at the window. Asked if we could go back in a couple days to get the SSN and was told "yes, bring this same ID" - we took my wife's passport which of course has the I-551 stamped in it.

Will update later when i check the mail!

If it has arrived, that will be 4 weeks since POE :)

My SSN showed up in the mail (I had checked the box on the visa application form to request one). I didn't have to chase it, which seems rare.

Green card still no progress. Will check ELIS again next week.

So, as expected, the green card was sitting in the mailbox...delivered as shown on the USCIS site and confirmed by USPS as being delivered.

It seems that the USCIS site at least did get updated when the GC was delivered; dont know if it was updated when the GC was first mailed.

ELIS site showed an updated status date that corresponded to when the GC was mailed.

the card itself was mailed via 2 day delivery in a blue/white USPS envelope.- and is different in design to the one i had til i gave it up to become a naturalized citizen. Its got some GREEN in it now! :)

FWIW, ELIS shows an updated status of Aug 13 - and card produced; payment submitted, and now is "closed"

Curiously - the USCIS site has reverted back to a "your card was mailed on Aug 13th- if you dont receive it in 30 days..." message.

It used to have the tracking number etc.

Even though the card was mailed Aug 8th and we received 12th.

Wonder why it did that!?

This!! The whole reason why the ELIS site and USCIS site sucks. They contract it out. Even the phone operators at USCIS are not USCIS employees but rather a contracted company.

Got an e-mail instructing me to return my green card as it’s expiration date is incorrect. Posted the e-mail here: #1

Yup, we got one too.

Short version: E-mail reply to the notification saying whether you want to receive the new card by mail or pick it up at an ASC. Send old card back certified mail. No I-90 required.

LATEST STEPS:

08 Jul 2013: SSN received (at SSA office)

07 Aug 2013: Green Card received

27 Feb 2014: Whoa, life happened. Planning move "back home" together to Republic of Ireland by end of April.

29 Apr 2014: POE Dublin through Heathrow

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI

I posted the whole body of the e-mail for when people are searching and want to know their options.

It is wordy though and I like your abbridged version.
