Hi everyone my wife and i just started the process for the green-card and our only problem is the Affidavit of support. My usc wife can't meet the income requirement so we found a friend who agreed to be the joint sponsor but even him don't meet the requirement . What can we do ? because we have no one else that we know that makes enough money to sponsor us. so there is no way around this. what can we really do ?

As stated, there is no way around it. Either your spouse earns more money, you find another cosponsor or no greencard.

You signing an I-864a may help if she has any assets. Probably noticed our Statue of Liberty doesn't want the poor here anymore. I-864 is a contract between the sponsoring US citizen and the government that immigrant will not receive any public or private assistance, even in the case of emergency.

Unless you have a work visa, can't even get a job here, not a very wise statement.

Another problem is finding a USCIS certified doctor for that I-693, typically not covered by your health insurance, for my two girls had quotes from anywhere from $1,200 each to over $6,000 each, just to fill out that very short form. Then the USCIS fees themselves.

Now if you are a multi-millionaire terrorist, don't have any problems coming here.

**** Moving from General Immigration to AOS from student visa forum ***

Have the spouse get a second job or look harder for another sponsor- old school friends, co-workers, neighbours, church family....

What if she just got a second job this February, but has no income tax returns or w-2's yet? Do we have to wait? That's why were using the co-sponsor because she just got the second job, but we don't have the income tax forms or w-2's. We have income tax forms for the first job because she's been working there since July of last year. together with the second job she meets the requirement and we won't have to have a co-sponsor .

on the i-864 is two sections for income -

1. prior years - gathered up from tax data and

2. current annual income - a projection based on what's already earned + what is projected in the future.

so - revisit #2, see what's what.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Those don't matter. What matters is the sum of the salaries of the jobs she has right now.

With the second job she just needs to have the employment letter from the company she'll be working for. As evidence of employment. It shows the pay. kind of job and what not. It will be very useful.

Good luck
