Well, just recently I gor a RFE (instead of the NOA2 that I've been waiting so patiently for). I've been stressing out about getting it since I'm leaving to Ukraine to visit my fiancee today. I got the letter at the last possible minute and was able to get it sent off before I leave! Thankfully so, since the response deadline gives me until the 19th of March--and I'll be coming back the 21st! Things worked out very well here.

When I first saw that I got the RFE, I immediately searched the forum to see what kind of things cause this. So, I'm posting my experience for anyone in similar state of unease. Aparantly leaving the "List you previous spouses" field blank isn't a good thing to do! Accordingly, I got sent a letter with an attachment asking me to list any previous marriages and the date of termination. At the top of this sheet, they claim that "leaving the space blank, writing N/A, or 0 are not valid responses". What a stupid mistake. So, I'd like to emphasize the need to write NONE instead of leaving items blank :-) Thankfully it was so minor! I was expecting some lengthy process that I'd need to go through! Now I'm counting on my NOA 2 being in the mail waiting for me when I get back!

From the instructions:

Answer all questions fully and accurately. State that an item is not applicable with "N/A." If the answer is "none," write none.

Thankfully you weren't gone yet and were able to resolve it quickly. I hope your NOA2 comes quickly :thumbs:

Approvals usually come fairly soon after they receive the RFE information that they requested.

so my fiance should be expecting an RFE then. for the "prior spouses" fields, we had put "N/A" instead of "none". great.
