My husband was asking if its easy for me to find halal meat (when he finally arrives here!) Can anyone give me some ideas where I can find it, do they sell it in the grocery stores, are their some brands that are halal? For example Perdue? I hope this isn't going to be something that's difficult to find , I would like to make him as comfortable as possible.

I think the answer to your question would really need to come from someone local to where you are. I don't see it listed in your timeline anywhere (might be missing it), but there are muslim populations across the USA, so I'd imagine there are places that will offer foods that fit in their dietary requirements. If it were me, I'd find a local mosque and ask them that question. I'm sure they'd know the answer

Grocery stores here sell it. If not Google Arabic markets in your area, they will carry it.

Varies from independent butchers to grocery store chains.

Helps loads, when answering yer question, if'n you tell us WHERE yer gonna settle, what city in the USA.

For example, Irving TX (where I live) has the 2nd largest concentration of halal butcher shops (independent) in the USA.

This is real Crazy,There is no Halal meet in America.

there are places all over the place that sell halal meat. I live in one of the smallest states in the country and I don't have any problem finding it.

I know ! It sucks, right ?

I always settle for Halam mutton, each and every time. It's ok, tastes the same, and the Imam has seen that sheep.

Oh wait - do you mean 'meet' and not meat? Yes, there's a yearly convention of the Imams in the USA, discussing Halal techniques, workshops, live demonstrations, training sessions and a question/answer period. I went to the one in 2010 (Open ticket, just pay and go) and learned a lot. Was useful for me, as I'm some investment in Boer GoatHerds in Texas and we flipped to raising them organically. Imagine, yes? Organic AND Halal? It's a nice market to be in.

I live in Vermont, about a mile and 1/2 from the service center :) There are not a lot of moslem people in our area. I have googled for markets and nothing comes up. For the people who said it is sold in the grocery stores sometimes, what am I looking for on the labeling? I see one Vermont farmer who lets moslems come and slaughter their own meat, but I'm not thinking we need to go to that extreme lol!

You might, once a year. Check with your Husband, see if he wants/needs to do that.

There are not a lot of moslem people in our area. I have googled for markets and nothing comes up.

Alas, it may be hidden. Many times, An 'Arabic Market' is hidden by 'Mediteranean (sp?) Market' . USUALLY, the meat there is Halal, and the label is less scary for folk who don't know about the change up in Label (yer google search terms, la -- change a bit?)

You can find some close by yer area, but call, use a telephone, inquire if they sell halal meat or no.

There may be a visiting Imam that frequents the Muslim Students Organization at the Big University closest to you. Call in to that Uni, get Student Activities Department, ask for the Muslim Students Association, and talk to a Human. Trust me - members of that organization will know where to shop for halal meat.

Beer is optional, everywhere.

There are Halal markets in MA and in Maine so I would guess that there are similar places in other states.

you can google halal meat and halal grocers, you will find some I am sure of it. when you are at you locla grocery store look in the meat department, it will be labeled halal, ask the butcher in the meat department, it is easier to find than you thin...good luck!
