Hi guys,

So I jsut had my interview today. She gave me an RFE for a new pay stub so I ran out and got the photocopied and returned it to her an hour later. She said thanks and everything is fine now. I then asked about getting a stamp. She was trying to explain how it wasn't a good idea and that she will only stamp my passport if I have tickets flying out of the coutnry. Or else, she said to buy tickets and then get the stamp with a later appointment.

Is that normal?

Hi guys, so I will be able to get the green card within 2 weeks? I am about to buy tickets right now leaving on the 14th of Feb. Should I make an appointment for the stamping or do you think I will be safe?

Yes, make an Infopass appointment.

The time when you actually receive a green card varies. Took my husband 8 weeks to receive his. Why would you need to make an appointment for a stamp? Your passport is stamped at your POE the day you enter the United States

Well, to get back into the country he'd need an "AOS" (i.e. I-551) stamp. That's the stamp that's being referred to.

I believe the confusion comes from the fact that the OP has IR-1/CR-1 in their profile and no timeline. A spousal visa does not require AOS, but they are posting in the AOS forum and it sounds as if they had an AOS interview and wanted to know why they did not get an I-551(permanent resident) stamp in their passport at the interview.

I have no idea what visa they are actually adjusting from, but it is rare for anyone to get the stamp at their interview anymore. If you were needing to travel immediately, could prove it, and were approved on the spot then they might provide the stamp. If you need to travel and your green card is approved but before the green card is in your hand, then make an Infopass appointment to ask about getting one.

You're right, profile says one thing.....and yet it's posted in AOS forum. I just went with the assumption of this being an AOS question (and, therefore, an answer suited for an AOS situation).

Hope OP actually knows what interview that was and what visa he/she holds. biggrin.gif

Sorry, about my profile, it was a random choice when I was still in China contemplating how to proceed (we ended up doing sticking with the F1 and finishing school and adjusting from F1)

This was the AOS interview.

I just wanted to post this:

On January 29, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

That means I have been approved right? I put my receipt number onto the USCIS website and this was what popped up.
