Another VJ Member wrote this to me and it through me off about how much I'm expected to pay for the whole K-1 process... unsure.gif Isn't it the I-134 for the K-1 visa what is the one below??? This person confused me.

"You're welcome. The I-864 fee is included in the $1070 AOS fee I believe for K-1 filers."

The guides give you most of the answers you need. Here is a link to start you off: http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

You will notice that it will cost in fees alone $1805. That does not include your extras like medicals, trip to Embassy/Consulate for Interview, Police Certificates, flights to the US...

As I am a CR-1 Beneficiary I am not sure of the exact breakdown for the K-1 process but I know a big portion of that is after your fiancee POEs and has to Adjust Status.

There is a lot to read up on and the guides are very good as will be the K-1 forum and your regional forum.

Good luck in your journey.

Yes thank you I'm just concerned about the initial fee of $340 I'm sure the rest will come later just wondering that big number threw me off because I will send my $340 with application this week.

Thank you for the link will read up.

These numbers are only approximate but you have the $340 initial fee for filing, some more for the actual visa given to the embassy ( I think another few hundred), the $1080 for AOS, another $560 or so for ROC. Then medicals, transportation, flights, and the list goes on. It will thousands before you are done so the $340 is NOT a large number in the entire process.

Agree, as I have mentioned before, this whole immigration process is not for the faint of heart, wavering resolve, or light wallet...

YMMV.

What is the total fee for the K-1 process? Just the $340 of something else later?

There are other fees, like mailings, plane tickets, hotel stays, medical fee, etc.

These are JUST the immigration form filing fees:

I-129F petition fee: $340

Visa processing fee: $240

Adjustment of Status fee: $1070

Removal of Conditions fee: $590

Naturalization fee: $680

Total from petition to citizenship: $2920

When do they ask for the application fee? After the 1st packet is sent?

There is the application fee , the visa fee which is almost the same amount, the cost of medical and police reports, and your AOS fees. Then there are non specific costs such as moving and marriage.

You MUST include the $340 check in your I-129F package. Must be payable to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" exactly as I have written.

I know that thank I am talking about the $240 application fee when do they ask for that after you send out the first packet and they review...? when in the K-1 process is what I'm asking do they ask for the $240 application fee. I know the $340 is the first money order you send... :)

Once the petition is approved and is sent to the embassy/consulate, the visa application fee (currently at $240) will need to be paid. Be sure to review the K-1 flowchart to see the various steps involved.

And co-sign on what others have said, this process is not in any way cheap. (It's why I don't like when in comparing the K1 and CR-1, some use the word "cheaper." Saving a thousand, if that, in a process that costs several Ks over the course of the journey is laughable.)
