MY dad applied for immgiration when I was little, today we decided to check the website and it says this:

On September 27, 2005, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Thing is, my dad never recived any notification on the mail, and he was told it could take up to 10 years for it to be answered to. So we don't really know what to do now, if it is still valid because it was 7 years ago, or what should we do? We live in Mexico, is there anywhere we could go for more information? Please help, my family and I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

When is the Priority Date? What category are you in?

I have no idea about the date, my aunt (dads' sister) claimed the immigration for him, as I tell you, this was 7 years ago, so I have no idea of what to do here.

call the customer service number 1-800 ask if your case is on going,or if you can check uscis check case status online for your case number,

I did check the status online, there's where that text came from. I'm currently in Mexico and can't call the 1-800 number, is there anywhere else I could go? The embasy maybe? I have no idea of what to do here...

It's very likely the petition was approved in 2005 but depending on the priority date and category, it could still be a while before a visa is available. Petition approval is only step one - no visa can be applied for until a number is available and the numbers are reported every month on the Visa Bulletin. You can access the current Visa Bulletin here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html. Until the priority date is current, no visa number is available. You said this petition was for your dad, who was petitioned by a US citizen sister? If so, he will be waiting for a long time. Siblings are F4 category, which is currently issuing visa numbers for petitions filed for Mexicans in July 1996. That date moves very slowly - I think it's been in 1996 for several years now. Hopefully it picks up speed eventually, but for now, it's a very long wait.

Long story short, we have a complicated case. We've been at this for nearly 5 years. You can read our story here. I highly recommend our attorney Laurel Scott, as well as attorneys Laura Fernandez and Lizz Cannon .

Filed I-130 via CSC in Feb 2008. Petition approved June 2008. Consular interview in Mexico, Oct 2008, visa denied, INA 212a6cii. We allege improper application of the law in this case.

2012, started over in Seoul: I-130 filed DCF on 7/2, I-130 approved 8/8, Medical at Yonsei Severance 11/20, IR1 appointment in November 2012.

CRBA filed 1-3-13 at Seoul for our daughter

since you can see that online, you have the receipt #.

Get into an internet cafe, make a skype call into the USCIS National Call Center on Monday, and ask for current casefile status.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

You've made a few statements that has made it hard to understand your situation. I will summarize and give you some answers. Please let me know if I understand your situation correctly.

Your aunt filed an I-130 petition for your father sometime before 2005. This is an F3 family preference case (USC petitioning a sibling). The Priority Date (PD - know what this is) is the day that USCIS received the petition; the date is on the receipt your aunt received - it is your father's place in the immigration visa line. The petition was approved in 2005. Since there is a long line for visas in the F3 category, your father must wait for his PD to become current before he can apply for a visa. So far, he has not applied for anything - his sister has filed for him - but he has not file anything.

The Visa Bulletin shows which beneficiaries can apply for visas. The current PD for the F3 category for Mexico is March 1, 1993; http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5803.html This means that those with PD before that date are eligible to apply for visas.

You need to figure out what's your father's Priority Date to see where he is in line. It is on the receipt notice that your aunt received. You can also request this information from USCIS or the NVC if you have the case number(s).

Aaron, siblings of US citizens are F4 category. F3 is married sons and daughters of US citizens. So the current date (starting in December) would be July 22, 1996.

The link in my post was broken by a stray period, sorry, this should always take you to the list of Visa Bulletins, most current at the top:
