I checked every single item in my pantry to create an inventorial list in preparation for our move back to Westside LA. I found out that turmeric, cinnamon powder, nutmeg, corn meal, and sesame oil have already expired.

Apple cider vinegar, distilled white vinegar, red wine vinegar, and at least 50 different spices from an Indian store are still good.

I had a turkey sandwich and a Dr. Pepper for lunch today.

Chinese chicken salad here. It was okay. I remembered to bring a fork, which is good

I would use those items even if they were expired. Have you ever heard of anyone getting poisoned from cinnamon powder?

Those might be safe to use but will no longer taste as good as when I first opened them over two years ago. tongue_ss.gif

Thanks, Meagan. I will miss some Chinese and Taiwanese restaurants here in SGV, but not the 87F to 102+F summer days.

I haven't been inside the Whole Foods in Brentwood. It looks small. My husband and I used to live on 4th St. in Santa Monica (my very first U.S. hometown) so it was very convenient to walk to the larger Whole Foods on 5th St. and Wilshire Blvd.

So?

It's unnecessary to keep things in the pantry that are not very useful to what I cook, like an expired cinnamon powder.

Rain knocked out the DirecTV, so I put a tape in the old VCR. It ate the tape. So, I grabbed the boom box, and tried to play some cd's. It would stop playing after a song or two. No tunes, no TV. Boring. I finally took apart the VCR and swiped the offending parts. Now at least that works. Enough excitement for today.

Would it still taste good the day before it expired?

back from the charity thrift shop, 1st and 3rd weekends are 'everythings a quarter'.

I buy carry bags that are in decent shape, ebay off the really good ones, make travel packs for the homeless with the rest...

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Watching Koyaanisqatsi. Again.

I only discovered that film recently (about a year ago). I couldn't believe I'd never heard of it! If it had been available on video in the 90s, just about everyone I knew in college would have had it on a continuous loop. :star::whistle:
