If you transfer a certain amount of money to the U.S. you can get a visa, no green card.

Its actually true. There is the EB-5 program for people doing investments I the US. For $500,000.-- investment, the investor can get a Green Card.

no you can't buy one, but as gzbabi pointed out, in order to have that sort of investment in the US, you gotta be wealthy innit?

No, that is not true.

Okay. I really wonder because if I'm not mistaken (and I may very well be since this is only hearsay), the President of Taiwan and his wife have US GCs, while some (maybe all) of his daughters and sisters are US citizens.

You have your GC until an Immigration Judge takes it away from you.

Or he surrenders it.

If he is living in Taiwan then unless he seeks to return to the US then the issue will not arise.

And then he may get lucky.

it's apparently not a recent acquisition of the GC. It shouldn't take USCIS so many years before they realize that a GC holder isn't living in the US, should it?
