don't know the answer to your questions but I can tell you that it happens all the time...lots of kids born in the USA whose parents are considered illegal status.

The anchor baby myth.

No she can not stay, the child does not help. As long as she leaves before her authorised stay is up she will be OK. Usually it is 6 months.

a tourist visa lasts for a maximum of 6 months, not 9.

She cannot stay, even though her baby will be a US citizen- the US citizen baby cannot petition for its mother until s/he is 21 years old. So your friend is either lying to you or doesn't understand how immigration works.

A friend of mine has a sister that came here on a tourist visa that had about 9 months left on it and at the time she was 5 months pregnant. She had every intention of having her baby here so she could be able to stay! Is that fraud and can she get in trouble?

She can have her baby here but she will need to dish out a lot of money for the hospital bill will be huge. Her baby will be an American citizen and she will be able to get a green card through her child in 21+ years.

If she overstays her visa she will be subject to deportation, if caught.

Well her visa did expire and her country of origin is Syria,so basically they shut down all flights to Syria. But her sister applied for and received a temporarygreen card allowing her to work for like 6 months. But can that intention to come here and have her baby come back to haunt her?

Plus us lucky tax payers are paying for it!

Probably applied for Asylum. Whether that will work is another issue.

SSSSSSSSS!!!!ocks... with another mouth to feed and the Obama Health Care, how we will be able to pay for our own kids?

I guess the US taxpayers are picking up the medical care tab too

No! I think she applied for an extension but was denied but at the same time because of the conflict in Syria she applied for temp green card and was approved. Now she has a social security card and receives EBT card(food stamps)! I try to be honest and I get a tax bill and some people have bad intentions in the beginning and the government helps them! I hate it for the kid but I think she needs to get sent back to her country or at the very least go back to the country(Jordan) that allowed her to get on a plane pregnant before landing in the u.s. let them give her food stamps!

She must have applied for TPS, which should be good for another year.

But you gotta look at it this way too....with all the probelms in Syria would you want to live there and have your baby there? I don't agree with it but I can have compassion for her because the situation there is very bad.
